England too is very good. They are probably my second favorite national team because they’re so many Aston Villa players on the team haha

And LiverpoolFC-YNWA, I don’t care who wins because since I am so accustomed to failure by the USA, I usually don’t care who wins it all in the end lol. I do hope they get deep into the competition next year though

ohh, youre american, so obviously you dont go for them (no offense, im canadian, so i know how you feel)
i went to a german/english school, i support germany. makes more sense to support them rather than canada right?

and yeah, england would have to be my second favourite, just because im a fan of gerrard and owen =) too bad owen might not play =(

Yeah, I remember the Boy Wonder in 1998. He could have been great if he weren’t semi-permanently injured.

^ yeah. he was absolutely brilliant with gerrard.

We gave it away! I think the 46th minute goal was what did us in, but then again I wasn’t on the field. Landon Donovan’s goal was sick though.

Eto’o should go to Man City. I heard it would make him the highest paid player in football (which he doesn’t deserve).

Yeah it would be great if Germany won the World Cup (I usually cheer for Germany besides the U.S. because of family heritage), but I don’t think they will. Their 3rd place in 2006 and 2nd in Euro 2008 leads me to believe that they can’t finish, but hopefully I’m wrong.

Favourite Team: Inter
Favourite Player: Javier Zanetti

disappointed with the result today but the US showed they can run with the big boys. of course, they have to do it when it matters next year.

No matter who you were rooting for, the game was amazing!

The only soccer I watch are the international matches…like today when Brazil was nearly upset by the US.

I’m definitely going to watch the 2010 World Cup. I’m already predicting the Netherlands win next year…big upset considering they’ve never won.

Oh and does anyone know why Ronaldinho is not on Brazil’s team anymore?

Basically, Ronaldinho isn’t with Brazil because he hasn’t done much in years, and the coach is trying to motivate him through tough love.

[No Ronaldo, Ronaldinho for Brazil](<a href=“No Ronaldo, Ronaldinho for Brazil | CBC Sports”>No Ronaldo, Ronaldinho for Brazil | CBC Sports)

I think England or Germany are going to win .Germany has not many good player ,not to mention their only world class player is Ballack ,but they are always 100% motivated to prove they are the best.Germany reached the final in 2002.3rd place in 2006,the final on euro 2008 ,and I think it is time for them to win.

With Italy forgetting how to play against Brazil, Spain losing to the US and required additional time to beat South Africa, and Brazil having to come from behind to beat the US, three major football powers showed glaring signs of weakness that must be addressed by the World Cup.

Still, I’m going to take Brazil to win the World Cup. During the second half of the Confed Cup Finals, Brazil showed why they are one of the best teams in the world. They could score in so many ways that defeating them is very difficult. If Ronaldinho can get his act together play like he is capable and make the team, then I’m thinking that Bazil should be favored to win.

Still Spain is a major force to reckoned with, and they didn’t get the number one ranking in the world for nothing. Their 35 match unbeaten streak had to end eventually, so they’re probably thankful it didn’t happen in the World Cup. They may have taken the US a little lightly especially in the first half of that game, but I doubt they’ll make that same mistake again.

After watching the confederation cup, I can’t point to single team that was consistent.
Spain losing to the U.S. after a 35 match unbeaten streak, or Brazil barely beating South Africa, not to mention the U.S. getting embarrassed in it’s first couple of games before surprising everyone by beating Spain and giving Brazil a run for it’s money (I would love to see Ronaldinho back with Brazil).

That being said, it’s hard to predict what will happen in the world cup. Being African myself, I’m betting on an African nation to win the World Cup next year.

Chelsea fc
through thick and thin
id rather be dead than red.

i was wrong… we DO agree on something :)

but if germany dont win, ill go for either england or an african country. how cool would that be, to win in their own continent :)

haha, nice one, id rather be dead than red.
well… i BLEED liverpool red. (literally)

btw, does anybody know where ronaldo (not cristiano) is? i think hes in an italian team, but i wouldnt know, i dont watch that league.

He’s in Brazil (Corinthians).

Yes dunbar is right he is playing in the Brazilian League right now. He was so NASTY in his prime, he’s actually one of my favorite strikers ever. I wish he could get back into shape and run like he used to though lol

I quite like England as well but my fear is that they are peaking too soon.

I like Holland’s chances also.

wow.
yeah, i dont think he’ll get back in shape, sorry haha
hes too busy eating pies (actually i wouldnt know, he might have lost weight since 2006)
