Any Freeman Asian Scholars in the house?

Hi domilylau! Congrats on having the interview done. My turn will come tomorrow.

Hi sisi! Yes I think the interviewers will be the same every year and in every country - Mr. and Mrs. Freeman and Mr. John Driscoll from the university. Uhm.. at least it's what I've heard from some alumni that I talked to.

Yes, good luck for all of us! I hope I'll do good in my interview tomorrow.

Good luck Pociteh!!! Rock it tomorrow :-)

Well some alumni told me that there're also Dean Overton and someone named Alice. So it depends. But all of them are said to be really funny and relaxing :D

Thanks :) I hope I will :)

Oh, I see. I have just talked with PierreMarie and I got the information that Dean Overton and an English professor conducted the interview in Phillipines, so I guess yeah the interviewers aren't always the same (my last answer is hence not valid). From the e-mail that I got from local AIG representative, I was told that I'd be interviewed by Mr. and Mrs. Freeman and Mr. John Driscoll, though, so I expect to see them tomorrow. (Ugh! Tomorrow!)

There are two groups of interviewers.
Mr. and Mrs. Freeman, and John Driscoll will be doing Japan and then the South-Eastern group of countries: Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, etc.
Terri Overton and Alice Hadler will be doing China, South Korea, and a few of the more Eastern countries.

Good luck with the interviews!

I have done my interview! :)

I'm surprised that it was really a relaxed occassion. I was a bit nervous when Mr. Freeman escorted me to the room, but when I started to talk with them, things just flowed and it was a nice conversation. Tomorrow my parents and I will attend the cocktail party, then it's time to just wait for the results :)

Wow congrats Pociteh! So only me left. I'm emailing the AIG office to know for sure.
Socialize a lot at the party, because they watch you at times. That's one advice I got from the alumni.

Erm, my name is Tania :)

Good luck for you sisi! I hope I'm not too late in wishing you luck. Have you done your interview yet?

I have just been to the cocktail party. Yes, I also heard that they watch us at times. I talked with a bunch of people there I guess - alumni's parents, alumni, fellow finalists, finalists' parents, my interviewers, and some other people. I hope they will choose me (haha, of course, all the finalists hope so). Well.. all the finalists are great people and I think the competition will be very tough. Let's just hope for the best :)

I really wish you all luck!

i was interviewed by dean overton and alice! ahaha they told me that there're two groups of people so they are going to half of the 11 countries! good luck to all of you! : ) ahahah 1/4 is the day!

ummm... it's already march and if they still didn't contact me, does that mean i didnt make it to the finalist place? :(

i seem to be the only person in this thread who hasn't heard back anything at all... anyone from south korea?

That's a possibility, but you can check with the local AIG representative. I guess you can get the phone number from Wesleyan's web site or the brochure.

I hope you're shortlisted as a finalist too :) Good luck!

the thing is, i am south korean but i currently live in the US under a diplomatic visa (dependent of my dad, who works for krn gov't & is a krn citizen w/o US green card). but my family is not affluent enough to pay for college for two kids, which is why i applied for the scholarship.

should i still make an international call to the local AIG rep in korea, or just call wesleyan?

I believe that all the finalists for the interview would have been notified by now. Sorry JetX.

You may call the Wesleyan Admissions office here, but since Terri is away doing the interviews I do not know who you should talk to.

Hi all. Has anyone heard anything from Wesleyan? I think the decisons are out next week (judging from last year), and I get the advice that we look for a DHL/ FedEx guy.(oh plz call on my house :D)

Oh so anxious now...
Hope for the best to us.

I haven't heard anything... have you heard anything yourself by now?
Arr, I'm getting nervous.

me too. Nothing by now :-(
Maybe this year it takes longer cuz they need to calculate the aid...

Hello, everyone! I'm from Taiwan. It is so nice to see people who had also applied to Wesleyan Freeman Scholarship here! I knew this discussion board lately from my friend who is accepted by Stanford.
She says , usually, universities would notify applicants by both E-mail and regular mail on the date(4/1) which is printed on the application form(or some days earlier). So that means we should expect to receive the notification(by E-mail, perhaps) next week(3/26~4/1).
Bu then I have been busy checking E-mail since 3/15!
Will everyone that were interviewed receive an notifacation first by E-mail or just the scholars do? I don'k know how Wesleyan Freeman system works! Does anyone know the notification process from former scholars?

By the way, all of you may log on to https://cardinal.wesleyan.edu/NetPartnerStudent
that is the website Wesleyan Financial Aid Office sent to everybody(you'll need your WESID told on the "Freeman Application Arrival").
Check your documents' status!
Is anyone's Income Verification "reviewed" yet?
I log on everyday. Because, I guess, only sucessful applicants' verifications should be "reviewed", otherwise they don't have to work on it.
Does anyone get a "Reviewed" status there recently?(Mine had shown "not reviewed" since the day financial aid office sent me E-mail.)

Hello Hao-Hsuan Chang! Nice to see another Freeman Scholarship Applicant here.

I can't see "reviewed" nor "not reviewed" in my personal page in https://cardinal.wesleyan.edu/NetPartnerStudent . What I got was "received" status for both of my documents.

Anyway, I'm not sure that they will give us a 'hint' of the decision before the admission decisions are officially out. From what I've heard, they (some college admissions offices) do sometimes mail decisions earlier, for some US students that are highly likely to be accepted. However, for Freeman Scholarship Applicants, I'm not sure that is the case. I think we all will get the decision at the time they promised to announce it, not before.

As for the date, I'm not 100% sure, but I guess it's like what Hao-Hsuan Chang has said, around late March to early April.

For the announcement - from an alumni, I heard that those who aren't accepted will be sent e-mail, and those who are accepted will be sent a package containing the materials that should be read and known by the successful applicant. I don't know whether the accepted students are sent e-mail too, though, but I think they will send e-mails to them too, otherwise perhaps they will be very shocked and overcome with joy when they received the package. Ha ha.

Hi, Pociteh!

I guess, perhaps, "not reviewed" is equal to "received", which means they haven't worked on it. But what you said make sense that they aren't very likely to give us a "hint" before the decision comes out. Anyway, it is the only thing I can do after the interview, ha!

Another way remained is to see the status of former scholars' at MSN(but what I have in MSN are all graduated ones), one of the scholar(graduated) told me we are likely to here from our countries' former scholars on the phone, they would crowd a small room and all eager to talk to you. But this happeded four or five years ago~

I am so happy to be here. It has been anxious days for me and I am glad I meet someone who are as anxious and anticipating to be selected as me! Good luck to all of us! (Ms. Terri said good luck to me after the cocktail party and at the moment I had a very strong desire to tell her "I can't do anything else to be lucky! You can, Ms, Terri! Please!" Hah~hope she can hear my inner cry, after all, that was so sincere!)

Patience, guys, patience.

The decisions will be going out soon, the offer letters will arrive by DHL within the first week of April.

We're all excited.
