Any Full-Tuitions or Near-Full-Tuitions to UT?

I'm curious. Did anybody out there get a full-tuition, full-ride, or near-full-tuition scholarship to UT Austin for 2010's entering class? And if so, why do you think you were awarded such an honor? What made you stand out from the crowd? Thanks so much!

My son got a $36K scholarship from Cockrell School of Engineering. Almost covers full tuition.

I got the same scholarship for Cockrell, and have a good shot at a scholarship that will cover the rest of my expenses hopefully… They probably base a lot of it on stats since it is such a big school.

In May sometime, they’ll announce to everyone which incoming liberal arts freshmen received Dedman scholarships. Here is last year’s announcement.
[University of Texas at Austin Awards Five Dedman Scholarships to Incoming Freshmen | May 19, 2009](http://www.utexas.edu/news/2009/05/19/dedman_scholarships/)

That’s great, utalum and mminsa! @mminsa, what is the scholarship you may get that will cover the rest of your expenses?

My son, a junior, is planning on majoring in engineering. So your answers are good news for us. He also loves the Plan II program, but, naturally, can’t qualify for the Dedman if he goes into engineering. That sounds like an amazing scholarship!

Thanks for linking the announcement, MidwestMom!

SimpleLife, It’s called the Terry Foundation Scholarship, and its a private scholarship that includes financial need and leadership. It probably won’t cover everything(and I probably won’t get it), but there is a chance it might. Also, if I go to UT I’ll be double majoring in Plan II and Honors Engineering, so if your son is interested in both it’s definitely possible.

I received a $4,500 engineering scholarship plus an out-of-state tuition waiver… that’s about $25,000 per year.

I’m curious – what’s the name of the $36,000 scholarship?

It’s just called a Cockrell School of Engineering Scholarship worth 9,000 a year for 4 years, and I heard that the out-of-state tuition waivers only last for a semester…

The letter that I received states that I will receive an out-of-state tuition waiver for every year that I receive the School of Engineering Scholarship. Essentially, what I understand is that as long as I successfully renew my $4,500 scholarship every year, my out-of-state tuition will be waived.

anyone know if these scholarships exist for communication school?

Are you really thinking of going to UT with that handle? and what scholarships are you asking about?

haha yeah i am… oos tuition waivers?

why is it so much to go to UT? most schools are around 20k
