Yes, I admit I'm lazy. I am already applying to schools that do not even require any supplementry essay. I am wondering if any of the "top" school has super short writing supplementry. For example, University of Rochester's supplement only require you to write a short essay in less than 125 words!

Sadly, the tippy top schools seem to require (in addition to the Common App essays) an essay all of their own, sometimes in addition to a few short answer questions.

There must be some that meet your requirements, but none of the top 50 that have caught my S’s eye, unfortunately for him. He’ll be in “essay hell” into December, unless a lightening bolt from a certain school comes 12-15.

The word you’re struggling for is supplementary. I’d let it slide but you used it three times incorrectly.

Instead of trying to figure out what applications to ‘top’ schools require precious little effort perhaps you would be far better off trying to figure out what schools will require precious little effort once enrolled.

It seems that the top 50-60 (or so) schools require essays.

Are you willing to apply to some “mid tier” schools (the ones between 50-100)?

I had a thread that listed those schools, let me post the link for you. :)

BTW…some have great merit scholarships :)

New this year: Middlebury no longer requires any supplemental essays. Last year not only was there a supplement, but they required an analytical essay with teacher’s comments.

Mcgill and other Canadian schools do not require essays

Stanford
bunch of short answers though

MIT’s longest recommended length for essays this year was 200-250.

USC requires one essay (500-700 words) and two supplemental one-paragraph responses.

I believe Wesleyan doesn’t require a supplement. Additionally, Brandeis’ supplement contains only an optional essay.

There’s a thread that lists schools with EZ apps with no essays.

Go thru all the pages…there’s many listed.

Dartmouth’s supplement is a peer recommendation.

hmm Lewis and Clark has only short answer responses. They are pretty short at about 100 words.
