I am going to attend Johns Hopkins Spring Welcome Open House for Admitted Students.

I will arrive at Baltimore airport as midnight , My questions are:
1. do I need to rent a car ?
2. any good (save place) hotel/motels to stay over night
3. how far is it from airport to JHU campus ?

What are your travel plans? It’s quite possible to get to campus from BWI using public transport and/or a cab (for anywhere between $4 and $40. In terms of hotels, the only places I can think of near campus is the Hopkins Inn (reasonably priced) and the Colonnade (really expensive). You may also want to look at hotel in the Mount Vernon area (near the Peabody campus) since it’s relatively safe and there is a constant shuttle from Peabody to the undergrad (Homewood) campus and back.

How many nights are you planning to stay? If you’re just staying the first night and flying back after the program, I would recommend staying at an airport hotel. You can then take a cab to JHU and back, or take the light rail to downtown Baltimore, and then get a cab to JHU. I don’t recommend renting a car and driving unless you have time to check out Baltimore. The drive from the airport to the Hopkins campus is somewhat confusing.
