Any grade recourse ?

My D was shocked to get a B in a course .There was only 1 paper to write . My D got 800s on her writing in her SATs .She sent her professor an e-mail ,and I suggested she talk with her advisor .She is worried about getting a reputation as a complainer ,yet she doesn't know why she got a B .Any suggestions ?

She should phrase it as she wants to know what she did wrong, so she can do better next time (in other courses). Professors usually have good reasons for their grades, at least on the level of B vs. A. If his/her reasons are ridiculous, then you can try to get it changed. I would not complain, vs. asking for comments, until the reasons are established to be ridiculous. Also, 800s in Writing don’t actually measure your ability to write essays, just your command of the English language about up to the paragraph level.
