Any grinnell students on here?

This is a pretty small thread. Just wondering what people's experiences at grinnellwere like or any thoughts they had?

Don't seem to be any students. I'm the parent of a Grinnell senior - and I can share some thoughts about my kid's experience. First year, he was in heaven. At Thanksgiving break, he was by far the happiest among his friends who went to WUSTL, Cornell, various small LACs and big research universities. In the first year, it seemed like every day he met someone new, had many friends in all class levels, was active in two sports and a theatre group. He experimented with classes - took 101 everything and, in general, had good things to say about his profs, altho there were a few duds. (Advice - check out profs with upperlevel students - no matter where you go.) Sophomore year was much the same. By the end of junior year, he was starting to burn out a little on the workload - and beginning to envy the diversity of classes available at large universities. It seemed to us that he had outgrown the small LAC experience. This year, he is taking a semester abroad and will live off-campus for his final semester. He very much wants to be on campus with his friends for the last semester - and is glad for a change of pace this semester. We'll never know, but we think he probably would have ended up in the same place at any small LAC -- with the possible exception of those that are part of a consortium, such as the Claremont colleges or the Tri-College in PA. Or perhaps an LAC that is located in/near a big city -- but few of them are.

Some of the great things at Grinnell are the facilities -- amazing and getting better, the fact that almost everything is free, the great merit/financial aid, the opportunities for funded internships, the rigor of the academic program, committment of faculty, and the students -- who are smart, funny and interesting.

All in all, we think it was the right choice for him -- and that he's now ready and very well prepared for a big university experience in grad school.

Thanks for that snorky, I completely missed it at this thread never seems to get updated. I will look into it more.

megtfs do you still need more info? I'll be happy to help- I'm a sophomore at grinnell...
