Hi, I’m a freshman in high school and my GPA is around 3.5. The school I go to is #25 in the nation despite it being a private school. I’m wondering how we have about 10 seniors being sent to the ivy league despite the fact that we only have 14 AP classes offered (including language AP’s) and 4 honors classes. I see all of the students that are admitted to prestigious colleges like Yale all have tons of AP classes that are being offered at there high school during their freshman year, yet my school doesn’t have all of these options. We don’t have an IB program or anything of that nature.
My question is, considering my schools rank, will colleges take this into action or not? Thanks.
Yes, schools will take that into account. Would you want to attend a school that punished you for something entirely out of your control? Additionally, if your school sends kids to the Ivies, Admissions Officers will know your school.
Reading you other posts, it does not seem that you’re near the top of your class and started off HS with disappointing results. You have to be realistic and face the truth that you’re not a viable candidate for the most selective colleges, even if you don’t like it. The best thing is you’re at a great HS with fantastic GCs who can advise you on great school options. MOST students don’t have this.
