Any Honors Program Acceptances Yet?

I know some honors programs say they start sending out acceptances in October. Anyone here gotten one yet?

really?! i thought they all sent them in march?!

My son heard last year in January, I believe. He didn’t get his application in until around the first of December.

Plan II and LAH are rolling admissions, so you will get a quick admission decision from them (if you get in).

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/438038-honors-admissions-regulars-admissions.html

I do not think LAH is rolling admissions. At least it wasn’t for the high school class of 2008 applicants (UT class of 2012). When we visited the LAH program in mid Feb 2008 they were going through a huge stack of applications. When we visited again in late March, D had been accepted. I think she was accepted to UT in late Jan/early Feb and was accepted to LAH in early to mid March, and that all of the h.s. seniors who were talking about LAH on facebook heard at about the same time.

I applied in October, and got my decision by November 15. It all depends on when you apply.

Figured I’d bump this…

Also, if you do get admissions to UT (no honors program yet) the school sends you like three or four separate letters about it. One for admission, one for housing, etc.

Honors programs only send acceptances through letters, apparently, so every time I get one I get all excited…

Bump, since Plan II’s blog said they were sending out some decisions November 20th.

BUMP… me wants to know when they come in ASAP!

Dammit, Plan II, I’d rather you not say anything than put out a notification date that you can’t meet.

i heard in march…ah im about as nervous as i am to hear back from rice to hear back from bhp!!

Bah. I know there are a lot of Engineering Honors Program acceptance threads from early December from last year - was hoping Plan II might be different. Maybe not.

I’m applying to Dean’s Scholars.
Hope I get in!
I know for sure that I got into UT since I’m top 10%, but I’m just worried about whether or not I get into the Honors program. I looked up the Honors residence halls and I’m liking Andrews! I just don’t like that they have community baths there.

D2 just received a Plan II acceptance letter today - very exciting!

Quick question - son applied Dec 1 for Engineering. He has chosen to apply to Engineering Honors as well and Turing because he wants to do Comp Sc.

I am not sure if you make 2 choices on the application for majors? So one was definitely Engineering and I am hoping the other was in Colleges of science (because I have heard it is easier to get in there).

Son is trying to log into the UT system to check but it seems down.

Can anyone help?

If there is indeed a 2nd choice then he has to write essays for 3 honors? Very confused. He is trying to get the essays done by tonight.

! Austinhills, if you don’t mind me asking, do you live in Austin? Only because kids in that area seem to get their letters a day quicker, many times.

Congrats to your daughter. I’m hoping for the same.

If I remember correctly, on the main UT application there is an option to pick your #1 and #2 choice schools. After that there is an option to pick your #1 and #2 choice majors. So for your son it seems like he would pick Cockrell then Natural Sciences, and some Engineering and Computer Science.

So he would have to complete an Honors Application for Engineering Honors Program (1 essay) and one for Turing Scholars (not sure what this one is like.)

Hope that helps.

To Austinhills…when did d2 apply? If you are willing, could you share stats? Thanks!

austinhills, I forgot to say…CONGRATULATIONS!!!
