Any hope for next year? :)

excel, firstly remember (as you can see from the Decisions threads today), stats are not everything. There is far more to an application (as you'll see if you read Ben's admissions blog entry) than just stats. That said, you've been encouraged to raise your SATs if you want your chances improved, and given recent data, this is a good suggestion. I would point you at the MIT Common Data Sets for the past couple years for data.

"Percent of first-time, first-year (freshman) students with scores in each range:"
For 2004 entry:
SAT I Verbal: 700-800: 64%, 600-699: 31%, 500-599: 4%, 400-499: 1%.
SAT I Math: 700-800: 88%, 600-699: 11%.

For 2003 entry:
SAT I Verbal: 700-800: 63%, 600-699: 32%, 500-599: 4%, 400-499: 1%.
SAT I Math: 700-800: 89%, 600-699: 11%.

As you can see, very few people were admitted with SAT scores in your range, so working on improving those scores would be a good idea.
