any hope..for ucla or uci

ucla is absoluetly my dream college, since i was 7th grade..
i m sophomore now.. and i got 3.5 low gpa last semester, and i m now getting about 3.8gpa..if i get nice gpa next year, do you guys think i have chane for ucla or uci(i like uci too...)?
average SAT score and average ECs..

anyone got admitt into ucla or uci with low gpa...?

dnduswo:

Are your 3.5 and 3.8 GPAs weighted or unweighted? Also, when you say "average SAT score and average ECs", do you mean they are average with respect to UCLA applicants or UCI applicants or with respect to the rest of your high school?

oh i m sorry..
i'm in marching band first flute
varsity soccer
science club..
and just a little over 2000 (i expect)

dnduswo:

UCLA: Reach
UCI: Match

thank you
and it is good thing that i have any hope for uci
cause i thaught i didn't even have a chance for uci
and ucsd should be reach for me right?

dnduswo:

UCSD: Slight Reach

thank yo very much flopsy!!
if i get into ucla......................

I wouldn't worry now if you're only a sophomore. Just relax and enjoy the rest of high school.

If you have a 3.8 unweighted GPA, then I think you have a good chance at all the UC's :)

thanks every one...

in or out of state

i m in state

and gpa is unweighted..
i don have and honor and ap yet but i'm gonna take losts of them in junior and senior.....

Don't underestimate UCI... last 2004, my friend who got around 4.0+ got into UCB, UCLA, UCSD but rejected by UCI. We all make fun of him because of that but fortunately, he is attending UCB now... :D so yeah, we still don't know why UCI rejected him.

Because UCI knows that he would not want to go there, therefore, they gave his spot to someone who would most likely go there.

I dunno if UCs work like that, UCI usually offers kids with higher stats their campus-wide honors thing.

dnduswo: you cannot PREDICT a SAT score....

well, i think nobody can predict the socre
i guess what i meant was assume, or expect..not predict!!
predict: verb[T] to say that sth will happen in the future
expect: verb[T] to think or "believe" that sb/sth will come or that sth will happen

sorry if that came off harsh... its just basically.. i wouldn't include that in your "chances" post because the truth is... you don't know... and you don't want to have false expectations. (although i don't doubt that you're smart)

If you took the PSAT, that could be used (somewhat) as an indication of how well you'll do on the SAT.
