Any hope for waitlisted students?

I was just waitlisted after being deferred EA..I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were with how everything would shape up this year. I know with the economy being the way it is, there is a possibility that more could come off the waitlist but I fear that I'll be stuck until there is no more room in the class. I'm majoring in Sociology.

So I ask, do you predict Northeastern will go further into its waitlist this year?

I really don't know! I saw in past years they've taken around 20% off their wait list but I think that data was from a few years ago, not super recently.

I got waitlisted too but I'm really thinking/hoping it had to do with applying undeclared, because other much less qualified people in my school got in applying with a specific major.

Bostonian--let's hope, I applied undeclared also and changed it a couple days ago. Did you decide to declare a major? Like they say, they take people off the waitlist according to major availability...

I'm curious as to how many people will enroll this year

aww, keep hoping! I may not go, so you can probly take my spot :)

only because I still have to wait for 10 more other schools to get back to me. April 1st :)

I'm on the wait list too
does anyone think I can change my major now so that I can be admitted or increase the possibility to get into NEU?
I applied for pharmacy btw

well pharmacy's the toughest school to get into
maybe you should change your major to bio or chem in CAS

Red, actually I want to change my major to the managment
Pharmcacy>Managment, sounds weried right?
haha, but I reallly want to go to the business school now
I called the neu admin this afternoon, they said I needed to write an email to the admission office in order to inform them that I want to change my major, however they don't guarantee that I can change the major+__+

You could also use the MyNEU portal to change your major selection btw. Its under the self-service tab.

ayeleswarapu:thx, but I couldn't find it T__T
could u give me the link plz

spada: are waitlisted students given a myneu account? if they are then you would find the 'change in major' under the self service link "there's a button called "change of major request"

i advise you not to change your major to business major if you want to get into northeastern because the business school is the toughest department to get into because the spots fill up really quick. I'm lucky enough to be accepted as a business - finance major because the college of business administration is now ranked #27 in the nation
if you want to get into northeastern and you think changing your majors will help you should change your major to one in the college of liberal arts
after/ if you get accepted you can then try your luck and request a change in major into the business school but if you don't get into CBA at least your still in the university and you can try transferring again for the next semester

Advice for other waitlisted students:

My guidance counselor called and spoke with a guy in the admissions office, and he said that if we called at the end of April, he could give us a "pretty good idea" about if I would be getting in off the waitlist or not. That way, if they tell me I'll get in, I won't have to put a $400+ nonrefundable deposit on another school, only to find out a couple weeks later that I did get into Northeastern.

So I don't know if they would do that for everyone, but it's worth looking in to. It sounds like there were in fact way too many people who applied regular decision with undecided majors and that's why many well or even over-qualified people were waitlisted or rejected.

I'm currently writing a letter to send with my updated progress reports in hopes that helps my cause!

Good luck everyone!
