Any hope for Wharton??

Hi guys! I would usually never make this chance thread, but I honestly have no idea whether I should even get my hopes up or not. I'm a junior, and I know right now Wharton is most definitely my first choice. Any hope?

So...any chance? Please tell me what you think and what I should me doing further to help me.

Thanks soo much!

anyone?? all feedback is very much appreciated!

Don’t bother applying.

Thanks for the advice!
I see you are still sour about your deferral. It’ll be okay :)

Keep it up and you have a good shot. Make sure to show that you’re interested in business though, not just science, since that’s a big part of what Wharton is looking for.

I wouldn’t say “get your hopes up” because Wharton is honestly brutal and a lot of people who CC members were saying “were almost surely in” got deferred or rejected, so no one can really expect acceptance.

But that should not deter you from applying, I think you have as good a shot as any of getting in, and you should be okay.

Starting an FBLA club isn’t the best idea if you’re already a junior. To be honest, you’re better off really distinguishing yourself in clubs you’ve already committed to (Newspaper, science etc.)

The things you absolutely need are demonstrated math competency, demonstrated leadership ability, awesome gpa/rank, and high scores. You can work your business interest in to your “Why Penn” essay or ask your counselor or one of your teachers to make it clear in your rec that you love business(specifically finance in most cases). they’re also looking for certain personality/character traits. without explicitly saying it, try to show that you’re emotionally mature and relate to others well, responsible, highly motivated and ambitious, and thoughtful.

Thanks guys!! =D
So you think it’s okay that I don’t have any business EC’s? Because I spend a lot of time in what I’m doing now, but the whole FBLA/DECA culture just doesn’t exist at my school. I don’t even think anybody applies to Wharton, just CAS. I hope to incorporate my interest in business into my essays then.
The rec suggestion was great, thanks jadedwhartonguy!
Hopefully my stats stay good so I have a good chance!

I’m not so sure myself, but I was told to look for paid intern work? Again, just speaking from the words of my peers/advisors, but my peers/advisors have informed me that paid intern work shows your job is important enough to advance the organization/company, and is beyond the stereotypical “coffee and doughnuts fetching”. I’m not insinuating anything against your work at all, but maybe look towards a paid intern work this summer? Again, not sure, but just trying to add my two cents.
