any hope?

I have at least a 4.0 gpa
this year I’m in : AP US History, AP Literature, Honors Precalc, Honors Latin, Wind Ensemble, physics, Advanced Video & Moviemaking
I’ve always taken honors courses
I’ve been in wind ensemble all four years (I’m the only clarinet in my grade who has gotten in- it’s the top band)
I have auditioned for NYSSMA ( a selective All County band program) since 4th grade, and the last couple of years I have received over a 90 on level 5 pieces (highest level- college level) and got accepted to All State
I have played on a very good soccer team since probably 3rd grade and I really love it.
I played piano for a couple years
I have been on the school track them the past couple of years
I am in national honors society
I am GOING to take the ACTs and hope to get a 32ish
I went to a Sarah Lawrence writing program this summer
I really love to write and it is what I do best. I think I could write a very unique and amazing admissions essay.
I really want to do archaeology, egyptology as well as creative writing in college. I’m looking for an archaeology program to do over the summer for a week or two, but its hard to find anything. Next year I am taking AP Psychology, AP Latin, AP Language, writers orgins, wind ensemble, and two half year courses to show that I am interested in archaeology: Paleontology and Geology, and Intro to Anthropology.
Of course I’m going to apply to other schools as well, but I have fallen in love with Brown.

Assuming your test scores are excellent, I think you’d stand a chance like any other qualified applicant. Of course, at Brown that means somewhere between a 1 in 10 and 1 in 20 chance, so that’s not saying much. Your profile is good but not outstanding by elite university standards.

While Brown is also quite good for those areas, your academic interests and musical abilities scream Johns Hopkins. With a 17% RD admit rate, it’s also a bit easier to get into.

NYU is also exceptionally strong in all of those areas and would be worth a look - with the warning that it is a very unusual undergraduate experience and does not have a good reputation for financial aid.

Get busy picking out less competitive colleges that you like. Admissions is a very unpredictable thing these days, and safeties are the most important colleges on your list. Don’t end up like many others and reemerge on CC in April whining about rejection from your dream school and being forced to attend a college you don’t like.
