Just wondering abt my chances

just make sure you do well on the SATs and SAT2s...study hard

Princeton and Cornell are the two universities I really want to get into...but this glitch has come up. I have scored around 70% in my Junior high school year. Though the equivalent grades in the Indian system are B for my lousy marks and none of them are C . I have been getting straight A's for the past 3 years. Will this year prove as a hinderance to my application?

and........BUMP!
Please advise me on this guys..

I dont know much abt the Indian System ..sorry..but I think you should take A Levels/IB/AP if your school offers them. Even if it doesn't, its a good idea to take external exams privately (only if you can manage) cuz it shows that you re a challenging person

external exams such as SAT II?

well if you are talking abt AP then it is not offered in our school. So I think I have SAT II is my only options...

Dude are you CBSE or ICSE ?

I'd suggest supplementing a bit about how these are considered more challenging than state.

If state, write how (I might be wrong here) English is offered only from 5th etc.

I am in CBSE

here are my full stats

So here are the statistics:

Class IX Scores(Grade 9):

English : 92%(A)

Hindi(Native Lang) : 88.5%(A)

Mathematics : 88.1%(A)

Science (Phy, Chem, Bio combined) : 95%(A)

Social Studies(includes Geography, History, Civics) : 83.3%(A)

Physical Education : A

Computer Science : A

Rank : 1st

Class X(Grade 10):

1.English : 90% (A)
2. Hindi : 63%(Oops) (B)
3. Mathematics : 87 (A)
4. Science
- Practicals - 25/25
- Theory - 72/75
Total% -> 97%(A)
5. Social Science
- Project Work - 20/20
- Theory - 73/80
Total% -> 93% (A)

Work Experience : A

Physical Education : A

Well in Class XI I have an avg of 75% but my final exams are not over yet, they are in march. And I guess just final exam scores matter as they have max marks as 100 and they cover the whole curriculum.

And yes my full list of ECs:

i don't know how things work in india, but in america it mostly works like this:
93-100 = A
90-92 = A-
87-89 = B+
84-86 = B
80-83 = B-
77-79 = C+
74-76 = C
70-73 = C-
67-69 = D+
64-66 = D
0-63 = F

well its kinda harsh marking here man. The passing marks are 35 :) so that is an F here! I am an Indian!

U have great ECs! However, on your application, make sure you put down the activities you are most passionate about! Additionally, these activities should be ones that you have been involved in since 9th or 10th grade. This will show your diligence and persistency! What college are you interested in at Cornell?

Engineering - aerospace major :D

someone tell me....please

ajay, This is the thread I should've asked about the cap for International Students at Cornell ;)

It's really hard to tell without SAT and SAT II scores unless you cured cancer :)

how important are SATII scores. Do satI and satII scores cover up your school grades?

with most top colleges, your secondary school record will be more important. but SATs give a adcoms a sense of the type of high school you came from. example: if you've received excellent grades in hs (and some colleges even), but your SAT scores are low, this suggests that school you;ve attended in the past are grade inflated. and with international applicants, i believe you need better than average statistics.

and what if your high school was hard and you score damn good on SATs?

Bump....bump
