I feel swamped by all of these AP kids :)
Anyone else in IB or in IB classes?

Has anyone taken their IB exams yet?

I took my chemisty one, so sr. year, I just have my other classes which shouldn't be hard (History HL, Spanish HL, English HL, Math SL, French SL)

If my school didn't mess up my schedule freshman year, I'd have 4 HLs. Instead they didn't place me in an elective, so I had a free period so I get credit for a class I never took. Maybe I should skip a year in French.

Just curious… what are your guys GPA’s in IB? I got accepted into an IB school near my house, everyone said not to do it, due your GPA being slaughtered. Maybe it is just that IB school, I don’t know.

My UW is 3.89 due to B’s in AP Computer Science, BC Calculus, and IB Biology HL. I deserved the B’s though. (But my school doesn’t recognize AP classes as +0.5 or anything or I would be well over 4.00)

Lol wow.
Our junior class is just gone. I went to get my transcript for a summer program in January and came back to look at another program in March, and our class size dropped by like 70 students. I think those were IB students quitting and just kids leaving the school. I’m pretty sure my GPA will go up this year b/c I FINALLY have chem out of the way. Funny how I start to understand it as soon as finals and IB exams come up. I’m DYING to know my score.

I am!! I took IB Computer Science SL this year :).
Next year im taking IB History HL, IB English HL, IB Math HL, IB Chemistry HL and IB French SL… lol oh well… SENIORS '10!!!

Our school just had the IB program removed by the county. We hope that we can get it overturned. Anyway, that’s not for a few years, so…

I took Geography SL this year. It was pretty easy.

So next year my classes are English HL, History HL, Physics HL, Chemistry SL and Spanish SL. I shall also be testing at Math HL (even though I had the class this year).

So I guess I have 4 HLs and 3 SLs. Not sure how that’s going to work.

My unweighted GPA this year was 4.0, weighted 5.75. Over all three years, 4.0 unweighted and I think 5.0 weighted exactly.

I haven’t taken the exams yet but I’ve heard that Physics HL and Math HL are the same way; often covering things that aren’t in our particular curriculum. Those who took the tests this year have tried to convince our teachers to be better about it next year, but if not I’m going to have to do a bit of self studying.

^ well, nearly everyone takes IB english so i wouldnt be too scared for tht. plus, you’re a junior so don’t worry about HL yet. try and see if u can make the 1st year of IB lol.

Chem HL is NOT bad at all. Get the Oxford Study Guide. It concisely covers just about everything. You could use just that (that’s pretty much what I did) and still get a 6+

At my school 100% of the IB students do English HL. The state requires four years of English so both years might as well be IB.

About 90% do History HL. It’s one of the more challenging courses but our students tend to do well.

Next year we’re opening up a Chemistry SL course, but previously the only science options were Physics HL and Biology HL. Since people tend to struggle with the science external assessments a lot of people take the HL course but test at SL level, instead deferring the third HL to an elective like Psychology or Theatre.

The vast majority do Math (either Methods or Studies) and foreign language at SL.

Some folks also end up with four HLs or seven total classes.
