<p>Five students have applied ED to Penn this year, and on Monday, someone from Penn will be meeting with two of the ED students at my high school. I'm not quite sure why this is happening, considering: one of the students has already had a legacy interview, it is very close to decisions already, they're not involved in the same activities at all (so there's nothing potentially suspicious), and none of the other EDs have been contacted.</p>

<p>Your description lacks some important information–but if I had to guess, it sounds like run of the mill alumni interviews for ED. </p>
<p>It means nothing that they are this late.
It means nothing that only those students have been contacted.
It means nothing that one has already had a legacy interview on campus.</p>
<p>Penn usually wants the interview evaluations for ED candidates before this, but if someone is running late they’ll still submit it now. Penn has moved to online submissions for the interview evaluations, so time will not be a huge factor.</p>
<p>Alumni interviews are assigned by a local alumni interview coordinator. Sometimes there are enough alumni volunteers to interview everyone, but if there are not–randomly, some students will have interviews and others will not. Most interviewers get only a few students to interview, so it would be really unusual for one person to interview all 5 kids. It could also easily happen that there was no one available to interview the other three.</p>
<p>Legacy candidates are able to have on-campus interviews and then another by a local alumni.</p>
<p>Not having an interview will NOT disadvantage you in the admissions process. </p>
