Any ideas on Eng. management programs?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here has any opinions on these whats so called "engineering management" programs? I heard that they are more suited for electrical, industrial engineers. How true is that? Can someone who has a degree in mechanical or structural engineering benefit from these programs as much?

Also, the tuition for these programs are very high. Do people who have a degree in master of engineering management start with a significantly higher salary? What's the salary bump?

And lastly, if compared to M.S or M.Eng, do MEM programs provide an individual with really useful business acumen and professional skills? I honestly like my subject, i want to keep close to my engineering roots. But in the mean time i want to gain some business skills and experience.

Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks!
