I plan on applying for the MLK scholarship, but I was wondering what the committee looks for in a candidate. Are grades/scores weighted heavily or do they mainly deal with leadership/social justice accomplishments (provided that your above a certain point)?

Any info on this scholarship is appreciated. Thanks!

Just a shot in the dark here, but I think they'd care more about your leadership/social justice accomplishments. If it ends up being a toss up between you and somebody else, I would imagine that grades/scores would then be the tie breaker.

I'm applying for it and I really don't know how many get it. A friend of mine is applying for the Trustee Scholarship and 20 recieve it. Since the MLK Scholarship has looser requirements, I'm guessing that maybe...50 or so get it? I really don't know for sure...I'll ask her where she got that info, and I'll see if that source says anything about the MLK.

newfoundgirlie--Actually, the requirements are surprisingly lax, considering it's a FULL tuition scholarship. I think the averages (which means some are even below this) are top 5% of the class, 1350 Reading/Math and 3.5 GPA.
