My interviewer was a professor at Berkeley, and the questions were okay. I didn’t really enjoy the questions as much as I did my other interviews, but they weren’t bad. He asked me where I would fit in as part of a team, and he asked me to kinda give him a quick rundown about myself (had to keep it short because of the 20-minute limit). Overall don’t expect much in my opinion. I honestly have no idea why they would even offer an interview if they were gonna keep it so short, but it’s an honor and a good sign I guess.
Does anybody know when they are going to come out with final decisions?
D had an interview yesterday. A UCB professor interviewed her and seemed to go off of a list of questions - Why MET?, What do you focus on? What value will you bring to MET? It was mostly D talking and professor asking questions. Exactly 20 minutes! Wait for the results continues. All the best to everyone waiting.
Calidad2017, Thank u for sharing. The questions seem odd because the additional MET essay should have addressed those exact topics. However, as someone else mentioned, the professor probably did not have access to the application, and this is an independent evaluation process. Congrats, and best of luck.
I’m an international student who has applied for the met program… Anyone know any international student who has received an interview call? :-/ also how many seats might be available for international students. I’m a female international student interested in engineering… Any chances that might help me?
International student here. Wasn’t invited for an interview, but would love to know if any international students were. If they’re admitting only 30 students in total, I can’t imagine they’ll admit more than 1 or 2 internationals
That’s what frightens me. I guess there might be about at least a 1000 to 2000 international MET applicants… so about 2 people means… 0.1% chance and if only 1 seat then 0.05 % chance ONLY.
I think u r correct that this program will be very competitive and will have acceptance rate in the low single digit% for all. They will take the best of the best, academically, test, and related EC, with complete disregard to many other factors. It will all come down to your stats, and if they think u can handle the extra course load.
I think it is fair to say that if you are unsure about having the qualifications of getting into UCB EECS, then you will not have a chance at MET.
People have said they have received over 2,000 applications, making the admit rate more selective than M.I.T. or Stanford, which makes sense given the demanding nature of the dual curriculum. No word on how many of those were EECS vs. IEOR.
The experience would seem to be similar to the UPenn Jerome Fisher Program in M&T that the M.E.T. program is said to be based upon. But it has not started yet so time will tell.
i watched the webinar that met has on their website and they say in the admissions part of the video that our decision comes out in mid-february, so i guess were expecting it to be in the next 2 weeks or so? also i skype interviewer added me as a contact 2 days ago, almost 2 weeks after my interview. weird, right? must’ve been an accident lulz
Can the people who got replies shed some more light? Quite a few questions left unanswered here. If you got in, were you invited for a scholarship? Are you officially into the MET program?
I haven’t received my decision yet, so I’m not sure what to think if some people have gotten rejected too.
But @Batwing99 were you rejected from Berkeley without being considered for eecs also? And how come the decisions are out so early. Can @clairebender and @DesiBaba please give their stats?
