<p>I am just wondering if anyone has any insight on how the roommate selection process works at RPI for incoming freshman. I see that students put in profile information and then obtain suggested roommates. Students can then communicate with potential roommates and request (or accept) roommates. But, how does this process work with dorm preferences (we ranked our preferences 1-16)? For example, if we picked Barton as our 1st (and 2nd) dorm preference, and then pick 2 roommates (as Barton only has 3-person rooms), but then we do not get Barton, does that mean RPI will automatically put us in a 3-person room in one of the other dorms? Even if our preference is a 2-person room (in another Freshman dorm) if we do not get into Barton? Also, what if we do not select our roommates at all? I am just trying to understand how this process works. Any helpful thoughts would be greatly appreciated!</p>
