So, I am trying to transfer into UMass Amherst for the Spring semester. I am currently a sophomore, with kind of a bad GPA record (1.1 my first semester, 2.85 my second). I sent in my application around the 3rd week of September, and since then, I really have not heard much from admissions. I received my Spire account on October 24th, and since then, it has listed my application as being "under review". It also says that if an admissions person decides they need more information from me before making a decision, I will be contacted soon.

As I understood it after speaking with an admissions counselor from the school, they would wait for my midterm grades to come in before making a decision. However, I have not been contacted by them at all since my account was given to me, and I am starting to get very worried. My grades for this semester, at the moment, are on track to be a 4.0 (or something very close to that) after midterms (half of which I've already taken), and I would really like them to see that. I know that they've already been sending out decisions, as one of my friends just received her acceptance in the mail.

Can anybody give me some insight as to what might be going on? (I realize that this is a very school-specific question, but really, any general knowledge in this area would be very helpful to me as well).
