Any interesting classes to sit in on during AW?

Could you guys suggest some good lectures to sit in on to get a feel of the teaching environment?

they will give you a list when you get here, but I suggest you ask around the dorm you're staying in (your RoHos would be good) and see if you can go to class with them. I will have Chem 35 (Org 2), IHUM, PWR, and either a seminar or chem lab, so if any of those interest you you're welcome to come with me. just let me know!

Admits won't be allowed to go into most lab classes (including chem) due to safety concerns/regulations. Lectures only, as a general rule. I've got bio core, physics (for which I will probably never go to lecture, but I'll go as a guide if need be), advanced mol bio, and hopefully an introsem. At the moment, I'm also planning to take two seminars on traditional Chinese medicine and epidemics, although I might drop those.

Psych 1: Introduction to Psychology MWF 11am-12:15pm =]
Spanlang 12C: Spanish, 2nd year, 2nd quarter TTh 11am-12:50pm

Both of these classes are great, so I highly advise checking them out.

My other classes are only Monday/Wednesday =/

So, the only day to check out classes would be Friday, right? I could probably come a little early or something.

Yeah, if you're really interested in checking out classes, come early so you have more choice of which classes to check out. Staying one day later wouldn't be particularly better, since classes typically run MWF or TTH.

For those interested in the Putnam, Ravi Vakil will be holding a sample problem-solving session/masterclass in the afternoon on April 21 (Saturday of AW). It's designed for profros. Some of the current students who do this stuff will be around to help out.

Oooh, Celestial! Mind if I tag along in your psych class? :)

I'll be taking IHUM (World's of Islam), Chem 33, ChemE 20 (intro to Chemical Engineering) and Econ 1b (Macroeconomics) if any of you are interested in attending any of them just let me know!

Do you mean Psych 1? I'm actually not taking it next quarter; I was a TA during Fall and Winter, though. I just know that the class is great every quarter and that it's always at the same time and in the same place :) MWF 11am-12:15pm in 420-040. Sorry I can't go with you; I have a discussion section at the same time =/

Oh poo. :( Well, is anyone else interested in going to psych 1 with me? :D

Oh, by the way, are there any SLE classes that will be going on? I'd definitely like to sit in on anything SLE!!! There's an info session or something, but I'd rather go see it live...

What's SLE????

Structured Liberal Education: <a href="http://www.stanford.edu/dept/undergrad/ihum/sle/index.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.stanford.edu/dept/undergrad/ihum/sle/index.html</a></p>

SLE meets Tue-Thur, so if you want to go Thursday night that might be an option.

Hey Pyleela, I'm interested in visiting a Psych 1 class.... maybe we'll be able to meet up during admit weekend?!?!?!

That psych class might be interesting. I'll go...

Hmmm...is anyone on here in SLE so I can meet up with them on Thursday night?

Do all the psych people want to meet up and go together, then? Is there any more info on that class?

What kind of info do you want?

I'm not in SLE, but I have a ton of friends who are so if you can't find anyone to go with, let me know and I can get you someone. They're all really nice.

I guess where it is? We know time already...the CC server's being really slow, otherwise I'd check whether you already gave us the place as well... :(
