Hello,
I am an international applicant to Harvard this year, and now I am in wait list. I am writing this to ask that were there any international applicants admitted from wait list in years ago and whether the chance for international ones to be accepted is lower than chance for domestic ones?
Thank you.
As far as I know, Harvard does not publish the statistics you are seeking. You’d actually have to find an international student on CC who was admitted through the waitlist to confirm that has happened – and, generally speaking, once students have been admitted to a college, they tend not to be as active on CC as they once were.
That said, I’m sure international students have been admitted from the waitlist over the years. My gut feeling is that more US domestic applicants are probably admitted off the waitlist than international students, as Harvard tries to keep the international applicant mix to about 10%-11% of an admitted class. Admitting more than 10 to 20 international students off the waitlist might skew that percentage.
