any International applicant to University of Texas, Austin?

I applied to Texas as a international student for chemical/mechanical engineering. Are there any other internationals applying here? If so, what are your stats and when can we expect to hear from them? Also did you guys take TOEFL, they have stopped waiving this requirement.

Hullo! Yes I'm applying as an international, major biochemistry. I've 1450 SAT1, no SAT2, and I thought I would've heard from them by now (because of the instate 10% in thing. I graduated 2=/130, and thought they'd be impressed... guess not). Yes I did take the TOEFL, got 653 PBT but the stupid ETS didn't send the scores right, or the university lost it. I've sent them my scores thrice already and they still say we haven't got them. I should really ring them up someday :-/

i'm international, sent everything in but my app (topic B is a killer). Anyway, my stats are 1370 SAT, 790/680/630 SATII, 3.9 uw, 10/199, 287 TOEFL (TWE 6.0), out of state living in South Carolina. I gatta get my app in!!!!

When can we hear from them?

did any international hear back from them? They have started to make decisions for out of state students.

i applied to UT for elec. engineering... scores- 1460/790/770/760/700. TOEFL- 657 (PBT).. i havent heard from them yet.

hi. i live in texas and just got mine today (accepted into plan ii and dean's scholars).
i didn't take the toefl for some reason. perhaps i got lucky.
best of luck everyone

This might sound silly, but are you international? If so, can you tell me your stats?
Thanks

k_austin-
yeah, i'm intl. but like i said, i now live in texas (for 1.5 yrs), that probably helped.
Just IM me for stats ;)

What does it has to do with this? I think the status is all that matters. No matter how long you live in TX, if you're not legally a resident, then you'll always be considered an international student. Your application goes to a different office and through a different process. I myself have lived in Austin for a little more than a year, but I don't think it would do me any good in getting in to UT. You got in probably because of your good stats.

Well, my essays were okay, not exceptional or anything.
But i think maybe my extracurricular mattered a bit too
have your family applied for the green card? if so, you should be a texas resident but still an international student.
Hope to see you there in the fall =)

Hey k_austin, I am also international and I haven't applied for green card. I've lived in Houston for 3 years, and the thing at UT-Austin is that if you went to a texas high school for 3 years and graduated, and lived with a parent in the interim, then you would qualify for texas residence when applying for UT. Although the admissions office acknowledges you as an international student, they treat you as you are a citizen and a texas resident. Then, you can qualify for in-state tuition and apply for need-based financial aid.

Oh I see, thanks. Unfortunately I live here alone, the only way to change my status is getting married (which is not gonna happen soon lol). I have a 3.68 GPA from Austin Community College and I've applied to the School of Natural Science (first step to Nursing School). Do you guys think I have a high chance of getting in as a transfer international student? How hard and competitive is Natural Science? Gosh, it's taking forever and waiting is really killing me :-(

YAY! I'm in! i got admitted for electrical Engineering. I'm an international applicant. My first acceptence! < i was rejected by MIT :-( >

2 down,
9 to go!

Way to go, rm1987!
It's good to know another international student got in. There has not been a post in the "Official acceptance thread" for a while so I kinda thought now they are just giving out rejections.
Guess it will be a few more days until I receive the decision. I have no idea what's waiting for me...
rm1987, what's your GPA?

thanx k_austin!

I study in an Indian Education system where GPAs are non-existent. But gradewise, I have managed a A1 or A2 in all subjects for all four years at high school. My current rank is 3/~40, but this will change ( hoping for the better!) when the final results are declared in late May.

This morning ( its 9 AM now!) i logged into my gmail acct and found a mail from UT asking me to turn in my certificate of finances.. just out of curiousity, i logged on to UTDirect and found out I was in! i'm so excited!

best of luck for all u guyz waitin for ur decisions!

im an international student from Peru. and i just got accepted to Red McComb Business School at UT -Austin. my stats:
