Any Internationals asking for FinAid who got in?

Please, if ANY international student who asked for FinAid got into UofC & Duke, please do me the favor of posting your stats, since I am a Junior depressed about the fact that admission for int'ls w/ FinAid is MUCH harder.
Thank you!

PS: Please post your SAT/ACT scores, geographic residence, GPA, AP/IB classes and scores. Thank you again

PPS: I posted this same thread on the UofC & International Forum

same question here
i thought my duke app was really very good, one of my best. but still i got rejected
i just dont know whats missing in my app.must be lack of research, but i nwever had an opportunity to do research in my country and that is why i want to go to u.s
but then who wants reasons. the fact is i didn't get in

Havent heard. My app was pretty decent(stats higher than duke's medians) and i got a reject.

^guys, could you plz post your stats? (I couldn't find it with the search option for your stats). I'm getting really nervous, since my SATs are BARELY 2050 (though I still have a year more to retake SATs..)

btw, an Indian international got a likely letter from Duke (so he claims), but I don't know if he applied for aid or not. His family income is pretty high.

and some personal advice from my experience. If your family income is above $100,000 and you're just absolutely positive that you want to attend Duke, don't apply for aid. It's definitely competitive. Since my family is well below that, I had to.

Apply to lower ranking schools that offer great scholarships that are open to internat's. I already got 1 full tuition and 1 full ride from great schools, and national merit gives a nice sum of money at other reputable institutions as well. This definitely helps you to keep your options open.

so who r those 20-25 students??
atleast 1 of them must be on cc

Rejected Int.

SAT1: 2150
SAT2: 2400 (Phy Chem MathIIC)
ACT: 33
TOEFL: 653/677 PBT
GPA: No GPA system. 9 O Level Az(outta 9) and 5 A Level Az(outta 5). So im guessing a 4.0
ECs: School based societies, approx 300 hours of slum development volunteer work.
Essays: Were good.
Recs: Good, sent in two extra ones too.

I applied to Duke as an international from Asia asking for substantial finaid. I got waitlisted with SAT I 2400 superscore (out of two sittings) and SAT II 2400 Phy Chem Math2... I'm not getting my hopes up since the waitlist is even harder to get off of than to get into Duke in the first place.

keep your head up Kowloon. One rejection does not say anything about you.

123college456, who are the 20-25 students you're referring to?

20-25 internationals get into Duke with aid every year...

screwitlah, my god!!!i am just terrified.
can you post ur full stats - like awards, gpa etc.
checked ur other stats man u r doing a great job in these gap years
how come u remain focussed even during the gap years
u did almost everything - from first generation to literature sat 2 to boost ur chances.
u really deserve an acceptance and i'm sure u will make it big

still wondering who r those 20 -25 students.
just want to know what's so special about them?? because even scritla didn't make it

or might be duke didn't admit any int'l this year with aid bcoz of the weak $ and **** --- wait - whats wrong with shhitt why does it get blocked. it is natural and not a swear word

123college, i really feel flattered but there're always better people out there - thats why i didn't get in. anyone will tell you that it's not just about SATs, and I agree with that. I probably was lacking in the EC department - no competitive sport, no international competitions/olympiads etc. If there's ever a list of people with international recognitions or prizes from around the world applying to Duke for financial aid, I'm pretty sure that list would have more than 25 people. =X

Oh that's GREAT! I love this thread :)

lulupony: you have good news! This all just proves that we got rejected because of our financial aid requests. And that means that we all have a good chance at HYPDartmouth because they are need-blind for internationals. I also asked for aid and I got rejected. Same at UofC. I was starting to worry a little bit that I might not get in anywhere, but that all of you got rejected, too, just proves that the reason was my financial aid request. And since Yale at least deferred me, I have a chance of getting in somewhere. That's great :) (Unfortunately that means I can pretty much forget Brown Columbia Cornell UPenn Stanford Amherst Williams, but if I get into HYPDartmouth, that's okay :) So, keep the head up and good luck with your other applications.

Just some thought: possibly they didn't take any internationals asking for financial aid this year. I mean, they have enough applicants that don't want financial aid, so why should they 'waste' their money on us?

^^^ Well actually Williams is need blind too.

Im kinda sad not having applied to enough need-blinds now :(

Oh yeah you're right, I didn't see that. That's awesome, now there are 5 places where I at least have a chance of getting in :) Also, this confirms my impression: Williams > Amherst

^don't forget about Middlebury and MIT (unless you didnt apply to either)

^Thanks, but I only applied to the ones listed above (Brown Columbia Cornell UPenn Stanford Amherst Williams, HYPDartmouth) Hopefully I'll be able to take advantage of the MIT by cross registering once I'm enrolled at Harvard :)
