Some schools [ie Stanford and Columbia] had application deadline at the beginning of December. Have you heard back from these schools yet?

just bumping

I've heard back from one school - UTexas Austin.... Their deadline was December 15th.

This is probably because they are rolling admissions, whereas Stanford, Penn, MIT etc are not. MIT for instance makes it clear that you will be informed of an interview (if granted) in late February. Unfortunately, that just means more waiting for us.

Not all the schools for BioE that I applied to give interviews, so an admission decision may arrive quicker than any interview invite from any school (as in my case).

I wouldn't worry about not hearing yet, I am sure that people will only start being notified in early February, from what it sounds like.

Can anyone who has gotten accepted to a bioengineering program please post here?

I am curious because I heard some acceptances for chemical engineering at berkeley already!

Does anyone know whether biomedical engineering of Columbia University has interview?

I assumed so. Do you think it might not be the case?

They don't mention anything about interview, but I am not sure if it means they dont have one:

Your application to the Columbia University Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science is complete for review and was delivered to the BMEN faculty admissions committee today.

REMINDER

The evaluation process generally takes three to five weeks. However, it is not unusual for the decision to be delayed beyond this time due to a number of factors. Be assured you will be notified as soon as possible. You may receive emails from academic departments indicating an admission decision. These emails are not a guarantee of admission. Your official admission notification will be communicated directly from the Graduate Student Services Office via an official letter.

Unfortunately we cannot provide application decisions over regular email or telephone. Please do not send requests for your admission decision.

You may have sent unofficial documents for review purposes, such as uploaded transcripts or self reported scores. The official versions will be necessary should you be recommended for admission. Failure to submit official documents will prolong the admission process.

Update:

I have also heard back from BU.

Slashpsi -

If the department sends an e-mail saying that you are admitted into the program, congratulations, but it's not an official letter does that mean that you are not really admitted yet? If this isn't guarranteed admission then what's the point of them emailing me an admissions decision already? (e.g. BU).

Any news yet? Historically it seems that interviews for berkeley bioengineering should have been sent out already...

Got an interview invite from UCSD for BioE yesterday! :)

Dang, I guess that means UCSD is out for me. :(

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but my friend who is a senior in BE here at MIT decided to apply to the M.Eng. program THIS MORNING. He went to the BE office and asked if they were still taking applications, and they told him sure, and to go ahead and fill one out.

So... if anyone applied to that route, they are definitely still deciding. :)

haven't heard back from UCB Bioengineering either.

Yeah, I haven't heard from UCB bioE or UCSD...

I'm beginning to get really nervous too.

I don't think UCB sent in the invites, there would be at least one person I would know of here at MIT. UCSD did though.

Anybody here applying for Stanford Bioengineering (either MS or PhD)?

Seem like many people apply to UCB, UCSD, and Stanford. I applied to Caltech. They stated the interview dates as Feb 19 - 21 on their website. I haven't got any reply, thus starting to get nervous.

From the professors I contacted, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, and U Penn will send out the interview invitations in the next few weeks (end of Jan to mid Feb).

The Caltech BE department replied my email that the interview invitations would be sent out today. I do not receive the email. :(

Question.

If someone else you know gets into the same program now and you do not hear an acceptance nor a rejection, what does that mean?

Is it most likely that they are just going to send a rejection letter at a later date? Or are acceptance letters sent out not all at once?

i think it depends on the school. Rejection letters tend to be sent later, as you can find on the grad cafe results search. Other schools send invitations in waves, or on a rolling basis.

Which school was it?
