Any Ivy League Transfer Applicants of Facebook?

Would like to chat with anyone in the same position!

Harvard will be my ultimate transfer college.

I reside in the UK.

Thank you in advance

@TheBritishGuy, The big H is also my ultimate transfer college!

If you have anything to chat about, I’m here for you.

none of you are going to get accepted as a transfer student into harvard, most years they dont even accept any. they take like 1-5 applicants , if they take any at all. focus your energy on a college that is realistic.

chickenfried,

Your comments here are OT, this thread is for members applying to a college to connect and communicate. No one asked for Chances, acceptance rates, etc.

Your data again (as in an earlier post) are incorrect; check the CDS for the number of acceptances since H began taking transfers again a couple of years ago.

While most members here know that selective colleges are extremely difficult to be accepted to, particularly as transfers, it does happen (even to people on this forum). Before launching into blanket statements about not applying to selective colleges, it would help to first ask about the member’s credentials, as well as about the rest of their list of schools they’re applying to.

Your credibility would be much improved if you: paid attention to the topic of the thread, provided data/citations to support your statements, and took into consideration the context of the discussion.

i have more credibility than you, i don’t “assume” that i am an expert about every school and their admission policies. nor am i an admissions officer.

also don’t try to pick a fight with me on here, cuz i aint looking for any drama or beef. you did not have to comment about what i said, but you chose to because your trying to start something up and just to let you know i am not interested so i will just ignore you from now on

And yet you stated:

It doesn’t take an expert to google a CDS.

p.s. you can find an ‘ignore’ function on your profile.

^+1. Good luck to both of you :)

I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but to clarify, the reason I posted my comments in #4 is because of chickenfried’s statements both on this thread and earlier in the day:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1552773-transferring-colleges.html</a></p>

Chickenfried, it’s not usually considered smart to pick fights with forum moderators.

Sue22- the only one that is picking a fight here is entomb, read the thread she clearly attacked me, i don’t feed trolls, is she is mad because she doesn’t want to accept what i am posting fine, don’t try to start something up with me though because you consider yourself some kind of expert? I don’t understand her problem, but she seems kinda obsessed with me, it’s weird. Vassar accepts 36 transfer applicants out 286 students? That is honestly not a “large” transfer class that they are admitting and they do accept few transfer students compared to other schooL? I honestly don’t understand her problem? Just because i post factual information and don’t assume i am some kind of expert she attacks me i guess???

I don’t know about her but i got more important things to worry about then harassing students on here.

@music1990, thanks for your wishes!

Yes, I’m well aware that the numbers for transfer admits are EXTREMELY low, but at the same time, the applicant pool is very small (there are fewer Intel STS finalists, lol). I was waitlisted as a senior in high school, but I had phenomenal work experience after high school in the field I’m going into, and discovered my passions want me to dive more into academia and less into industry applicability, which is why I am once again pursuing Harvard (among others). I wouldn’t be applying if I didn’t think I had an OK chance.

chickenfried: entomom has been an invaluable source of information and advice here since at least back in the days when I was applying for transfer admissions - that was six years ago. Just look at her past postings - I think they speak for themselves. She’s the real deal, and as far as I’m concerned, you have literally no credibility by comparison. You sound like my high school guidance counselor: discouraging and needlessly pessimistic. Believe me, the OP knows how hard it is to get into the Ivies and doesn’t need you to remind him/her. It’s very hard, but it’s not impossible for the right candidate.

Also, to restate the obvious: the OP wasn’t asking for you to chance anyone, just about the application process I think.

To the OP: I don’t think there’s any secret into getting in, although I would definitely talk to successful Ivy transfers about their soft factors and how they approached the application. As long as your numbers (i.e., grades, test scores) are in the ballpark, it then becomes your battle to convince the committee that you’re the right fit in a subjective sense - or in so many words, that they want people like you on their campus. That’s where the recs and essays come in, and fortunately, you have total control over your essays and at least some over your recs in that you choose who writes them. If your numbers are not in the ballpark, then you have a much steeper battle, but again, not an insurmountable one necessarily.

Maybe I am missing something. But chickenfried is correct. Harvard accepts less than 20 transfer students a year.

[The Real 1%: Harvard Admits 15 Transfer Students | News | The Harvard Crimson](<a href=“The Real 1%: Harvard Admits 15 Transfer Students | News | The Harvard Crimson”>The Real 1%: Harvard Admits 15 Transfer Students | News | The Harvard Crimson)

@johnston9234 – yes, the numbers are very, very low for transfer applicants, but having that 1% opportunity is worth much more than the time and work I (and my school) will have to commit.

Also, *fewer :stuck_out_tongue: (just teasing you)

@wayward_trojan – do you know a thread where I could find and possibly message successful Ivy transfers? Thanks for your clarifying note btw

Yes, Johnson, that is the data I was referring to when I instructed cf to look at the CDS.

Perhaps I need some CR review, or maybe Math. Isn’t 15 students 300% of 5 students and 1600% of 1 student? Yes, the numbers are low, I never said otherwise and neither did the OP. The data is readily available, so why not use it?

deathstroke, the Resources sticky thread has a link to past Transfer Results threads. However, you need to have 15 posts in order to PM, and junk posts are not permitted. Also, many members are not active once they start school; if you click on the member name, there is an option to see their posting history so you can see when they last posted.

w_t, thanks for your comments. I hope you’re doing well these days are still involved in music!

@entomom, thank you very much for your help – I’ll see what I can do! Perhaps I can get to that post count by adding my experience/answering questions in some other threads.

Note to anyone: if you’re like the OP, and are applying to Ivies as a transfer, feel free to get in touch with me!
