<p>Hi, in reading stats for people accepted to the ivies, I see many musicians, but never any percussionists and surely no jazz drummers! Does anyone know a reason for that? Am I missing something here that everyone else knows? Are there any jazz drummers out there going to the ivies?!?!</p>
<p>It’s a matter of popularity and cultural convention. Just as there is a far lower population of percussionists and jazz drummers in the general population (in comparison to pianists or those who play a woodwind or string instrument), there is a lower representation in the general applicant pool. But assuredly, they are not nonexistent. There are extracurricular outlets (e.g. bands or ensembles) to pursue these endeavors on nearly every college campus.</p>
<p>Thanks. Makes sense. Was feeling a little nervous that maybe everyone knows that piano players have higher admission chances than drummers (or some other bit of info like that)!</p>
