admitted for landscape architecture
anyone else admitted for landscape architecture? i havent seen anyone post about landscape architecture. the major doesn’t seem too popular. but anyone out there?

I’m a landscape architecture major! Where did you apply?

nice! & what do you mean where did i apply? cal poly slo
are you an incoming freshmen?

Yes, I’m an incoming freshman. I meant which schools did you apply to in addition to Cal Poly SLO.

coool! i also applied to uc davis, uc berkeley, cal poly pomona all for landscape architecture. in addition to ucla, uc santa cruz, san diego state, chico state, and humboldt all for different majors. i got into all of them. i just got back from cal poly slo and after speaking with students and staff from the landscape architecture, i’m set on cal poly slo for LA. it’s 3rd in the nation, hands on as opposed to uc davis or berkeley that rely on textbooks and theory to learn… it’s a closely knit department at poly and there are so many resources out there…so amazing! also, i believe berkeley’s LA isn’t fully accreditted and the problem with davis is that you’re not in the major til you complete coursework and a portfolio and then through another application process they let you know whether you’re in or not…space is also limited… CAL POLY SLO FTW!
what schools did you apply to? what school will you be attending?

Congratulations! Good to know about Davis! I know was admitted as pre-LA, but I wasn’t aware you had to make it through another round of applications! Yeesh! That’s scary! What are you supposed to do if you don’t make it? Give up and pick a new major? I think I’ll probably end up at Cal Poly Pomona.

yeah, uc davis came to a college fair here at my high school and that is where i found out about that. i didn’t know about that either, i guess that’s why it is “pre-landscape architecture”. and if you dont make it, you dont have to pick a new major all you have to do is keep working on your portfolio and take courses that will prepare you for the application process and being in the actual major… and why cal poly pomona? cal poly slo is the way to go :)

I don’t like the fact that SLO is a five year program. I would prefer four years for a bachelor’s degree.

well it’s doable i believe? as long as you’re putting in work…hard work…and at poly 5th year is a senior project i believe.

One of the professors told me it’s a capstone senior project, but an extra 5k/year compared to Pomona is too much.

tom doak is one landscape/golf course architect. pretty famous as well. look him up
