Any Match Suggestions?

I have one reach(Georgetown EA) and two in state safeties that I would be happy to attend. Rather than piling on reaches, I am trying to be realistic and apply to primarily match schools as my in states are quite solid already for my major. Right now, I have Northeastern(EA), Villanova(EA), Boston College(EA), and Lehigh. Not sure if the last two are reaches or matches but I’m thinking high match with NEU and Villanova as solid matches. Here’s my stats.

Business/finance major- Asian male no hooks
GPA: 98 UW, 100 W(4.0 UW)
ACT: 34 single sitting
SAT: 1510 superscore(not sending other than Georgetown)
Rank: 2nd
APs/Honors: 7 APs, 9 honors… most rigorous at school

ECs/Awards:
FBLA- 1st at regionals, ~20th at states, treasurer(11-12)
Model UN- outstanding delegate award, treasurer(11)
Tennis- 3rd singles, varsity team, club team, tournaments, clinics
Volunteering- at local tennis clinics 75 hrs
President of one club
Engineering competition
National Honor Society
I swear my ECs sound better the way I described them on the common app lol. Didn’t want to go all in depth here, just give a general jist of my ECs. I think they are good but nothing extraordinary.

I really want to add one or two more matches, that meet need or have merit opportunities. Only preferences are northeast/mid atlantic region near a city but still having a defined campus. Really focused on the money though. My in states are ~30k/year so looking to get around or less than that with merit. Need met schools, including the ones I listed already, are around the 20-25k/year range so any school that meets need school be good, but I can check NPCs if necessary. I really don’t think there are any more schools that could be matches for me for business. I am in state in PA so my safeties were Pitt and Penn State which are solid for business. I don’t think there are many that are better that are affordable(many top undergrad b schools are OOS…) or considered matches for me. Everything else seems to be getting into the high reach range, but I really want one or two more solid or high matches.

did you take the PSAT AND score above the NMF cut off scores for PA?
If so, NE awards 3/4 tuition scholarships

Northeastern University
NMF Award: $30,000/year (approximately 3/4 Tuition)

take a look at this list of colleges that might be worth applying to, based on their NM scholarships.

and here is a list of competative scholarhships- Pitt offers merit $$ for students with your stats.
I’d send them your SAT scores.

No, unfortunately no NMF. FWIW, NEU came around 20k with financial aid so that wouldn’t have helped anyways. The ACT is a higher score, why do you suggest the SAT? The SAT converts to a 33.

Emory? A little reachier than some of the others.

If you wind up not getting into Georgetown EA, are you thinking about adding more reaches in December?

@doschicos No, if I get into one match school with enough aid/merit then I’ll consider that a success for the EA round and I’ll probably be done. I’m looking for more match schools for the RD round in case EA doesn’t go well. Georgetown doesn’t reject in the EA round and it’s more selective so I’m expecting a deferral.

Should I really have sent in my SAT instead of ACT? I only sent my ACT to Pitt.

how many times did you take the SAT?

to me a 1510 SAT score is more like a 35 ACT score.

Its not too late to send the SAT score as well.

@menloparkmom Its the new SAT and I took it twice. Concordance tables say it is a 33. It was 10 points away from a 34 so its close but a 34 concords to a 1540 on the new SAT and it was single sitting.

Bump

Send the SAT score to Pitt too. It can only help.

Ohio University might be a good match. And merit chance too.

With your high class rank you might be able to get $17.5k merit from OSU with National Buckeye and Maximus.

@mommdc I already sent in my app and its already considered complete so I’m guessing they received ACT scores already. My objective stats are already strong enough for admissions, but their scholarship committee doesn’t meet until late October. If I send my SATs now, and they get there after they make my admissions decision, could they still consider it for scholarship purposes?

I have considered OSU and have looked into it seriously for its scholarships but honestly I just didn’t like the campus and overall vibe. Haven’t looked at Ohio U though.

I think I would still send SAT scores, they will either consider them or not.

I have heard good things about OU’s tutorial honors college, its business program is AACSB accredited I believe.
