any Medical School , Please !

Hello every one, I am in need of help and It looks as though this is a great place to start! I am academically classified as a poor student, with a GPA of 2.7 . Being a 23 year old student from the Sudan, I would like to bring medical advancements to the medically underserved villages from which I immigrated from 5 years prior. I have already completed my english as a second language education, general education and 1 year of general chemistry and biology. I know this sound like a hopeless case; however, I would greatly appreciate any information that anyone could give me concerning special programs that after the completion of the program would guarantee a seat into the medical school. Thank you for the time that you've taken to read this post.

hey, these medical programs give you a garunteed spot into a particular medical school before entering college provided you meet their requirements. Some programs require you to take the MCAT, others do not; all of them do require that you maintain a certain GPA and i don't know of one that doesn't have a course requirement (even brown's has a course requirement). They are a relief as you know you have a spot in medical school and should give you more freedom. Most of these programs have very high standards and accept very select individuals. A list of BA/MD programs can be found on the internet here: http://services.aamc.org/currdir/section3/degree2.cfm?data=yes&program=bsmd Hope this helps and good luck!

one thing i would look into though--i've seen that a lot of the programs i'm applying to don't accept transfer students....you said you were 23 years old....unless ur still in high school...? whatever, i wish you the best of luck!

very good point, papucutta!

Do consider schools in the Caribbean & Mexico, such as St. George's University in Grenada ( http://www.sgu.edu/) & the University (Autonoma) of Guadalajara in Mexico (http://www.uag.mx/medicine/default.html).

hmmm...i dont know if sgu is open yet after those hurricanes. I know a lot of them were closed for some time.
