Any mentionable websites with cheap airline tickets?

Hey guys, my parents aren't willing to make the 20 hour round trip from the bay area by car to pick me up for winter and spring break; so I guess like many people I gotta take a plane back. You guys know any mentionable sites for good deals on airline tickets?

I’ve heard good things about kayak.com[/url”>http://www.kayak.com/]kayak.com.

nearly all kids in-state fly southwest, which doesn’t release its timetables to third-party sites like kayak, orbitz, travelocity, etc.

you can always carpool back up, usually it’s for like $30 in gas one-way.

Wow thanks, that’s a great site! I can’t believe I totally forgot about that site even with the ads they always put on TV. :)

Yea I gotta check them out too.

Another question; will there be shuttles from UCSD to take us to the airport when break starts?

EDIT: Does anyone know when winter break and spring break starts and ends? UCSD’s website and online calender doesn’t say… perhaps hidden somewhere?

I’m doing the opposite - getting my son home from the Bay Area. I found Southwest to be the least expensive. The key is to buy early. In other words, buy your tickets now! I had to pay almost double to get him home for Thanksgiving then I did to get him home for Winter Break.

Well another problem is I don’t know when the breaks start…

Does anyone know when winter break and spring break starts and ends? UCSD’s website and online calender say 2 day breaks for each holiday (thanksgiving/ christmas/ new years)… but I thought breaks lasted a week…

@leukybear - google these things, it’s the first result for both:

“ucsd academic calendar”

“ucsd airport shuttle”

Wait, wait, wait; so winter break is from Dec 9. to Jan 2.? (departing and returning on those dates) [I’m getting this from those sites above^]

thanksgiving is 2 days long, winter break is 3 weeks, and spring break is 1 week. all this seems to be clear from the site i gave you, so maybe you’re looking at something else?

winter break officially starts 12/12, and classes don’t start until 1/3.

obviously if your finals end earlier or if you don’t have classes on 1/3 then your dates will vary.

Alright I finally have this down; assuming I have no other means of getting earlier to the airport aside from the shuttle and factoring in my finals schedule, I’ll have to take the airport shuttle on Dec. 10th and once back I’ll have to take the shuttle back on the 2nd.

Thanks guys!

Winter break starts when your last final ends. You should know your final schedule now via Tritonlink.

Yea I realized that; someone should’ve said that earlier XD

I did!

“…if your finals end earlier … then your dates will vary.”

Well, thanks again. ;)

Fly Southwest. Seriously, do it. You can’t get their tickets off of kayak so go to Southwest.com.

Done. Cheapest by far.
