MUN represent.

I went to Princeton last year, should have gotten honorable mention! :(

but I won most outstanding delegate for the legal committee at St. Peters College a few weeks ago, and I'm going to the actual UN in May!

no cowgirl, my school only does USA competitions :(
so many harvard MUN'ers here! when committees/delegations for harvard are released, we should definitely compare !

Model UN represent!! :)
We go to the local conferences, such as Stanford, Berkeley, Santa Teresa/ SCV...thats all we've gone to so far. We are a relatively new club, so we don't go to too many conferences--not yet, atleast.

hey anisha,
definitely try to bring your MUN club over to the east coast where all of the really prestigious conferences are :)
at the Ivy League Model UN Conference (UPenn), a California school showed up .. called Mira Costa or something ... do you know them?

I am in the same boat as Courtney-very interested, but not sure where to start. It sounds so fun and interesting, and I am sure that I could get a bunch of kids from my school to join, but, isn't it expensive to fly all around the country? How often does your MUN hold meetings or whatever? What do you do at the meetings(not the big conferences or whatever, just the meetings at your school)? Thanks!

at my school, we usually "prepare" for future conferences at meetings. that would include holding a "mock" conference to help the new kids get a feel for model UN.
if you want to start a model UN club, you should probably look at the UNAUSA website.. it might be helpful :)
and at my school, you have to pay to attend a conference. so for harvard, it was around $600, with everything included (travel fare, eating, conference fees). its definitely worth it! (i got an award at harvard + met a lot of really cool people)

so um, anyone going to unausa?

MUN'er for 4 years and president :P

It's over for us now though T_T

i think ive heard of mira costa. don't know too much about it though.

$600 a conference out of your own pocket??? damn! We pay like 90 because school pays for half and we ride in these old vans for like 5 hours to get there.

I'm Secretary of my Model United Nations Club in our high school. We recently attended the NAIMUN conference in D.C. this February. We had to pay about $405 each to even go on the trip. We're going to need a substantial amount of new members for next year too.

DUKE (although now that I'll probably be a Tarheel I should spell it "DOOK") and UNC-CH MUN :)

I'm VP of our club, but the president doesn't do a thing so I run the show. haha
<3 Model UN..some of my best HS memories are from conferences!
