I've been checking on the schedule of classes to see which classes I want to enroll in and noticed that there are only two "intro to cs" classes left. One is a lecture and one is a lab. The lecture is still open, but the lab is closed. It says you need to register for both, but if these are indeed the only cs classes left, what am I to do. Will there be more classes available when I go to orientation? Or do I need to find an alternative? I would appreciate any help. I will be attending orientation on the 6th and 7th of July if that makes a difference.

oh and the class I want is CS 010. If anyone was wondering.

if one or the other is closed, then its both closed. i just checked and CS10 is full. but just wait till orientation and ask an academic advisor and keep checking. They may open up more labs and maybe lectures.

When i took CS10 last year, there were about 3 lectures and 6+ labs available, and right now there are only 1 of each showing. They will most likely add more lectures and labs later because only 1 lecture+lab sounds absolutely ridiculous.

bombatwist; it’s the same for eng1c… there’s only 2 classes in the fall… :

omg two?!?! there should at least be like 20 or more! They absolutely have to add more later unless budget cuts are really that bad which i doubt, or else EVERYONE would have no classes. They probably only have a couple classes listed since orientation is going on and they are working everything around that.

CS010 is full unless you’re in the learning community. I had a problem getting it on my schedule, but I managed to get into the class without having to do the learning community.

I loved CS 10. Hopefully you get it with Kris Miller, because he’s a great teacher. Good luck!

CS10 fills quick. I advise doing learning community, it ensures you classes and you’ll probably get it if because automatically for engineering they throw you into a learning community unless you opt out of it.

for english 1C, it may open up. At the same time, I wouldn’t be too sure or even count on it, especially if you’re a freshmen because you’ll have time to finish it for winter quarter.

Also there are some majors that are getting rid of English 1C requirement and changing it to a different class as replacement.

The English department said not to count on Eng1c opening. They advised people to take it in the summer… and I did hear they’re changing a lot of requirements now. There are different classes that can replace Eng1c, but that’s for other majors. It does not apply to pre-business students.

Pre-business students must finished all series of english to apply as a business major… Since I might apply in the winter… I’m taking eng1c in the summer… I’m not risking not getting a seat in the winter.

But yeah, first years do have time to take Eng1c. They will probably open more classes in the winter though… I just can’t imagine why they won’t…
