<p>Are there any summer programs left that are worthy and prestigious? I know deadlines for a lot are already over but there must be some left. Any replies would be appreciated.</p>
<p>Also, does anyone know of any internships that are still open?</p>

i don't really care about prestige, but is it still possible to find a worthwile summer internship or job? i'm currently working at an ice cream store and really want to quit.</p>

<p>I doubt if it's possible to get into anything "prestigious" at this point, but commercial camps/programs that take anyone who can pay may still have openings. Some of those are worthwhile. Google "camp" plus whatever you are interested in. Also try checking out the camp ads at the back of the Sunday New York Times magazine.</p>

<p>If you want to do scientific research and live near a college or university, you don't need to go through a summer program to do it (although it's easier if you do). Check out the website of the university near you, particularly the pages of faculty members in a depatment that interests you. They will likely list their current research topics on their site, and if they sound like something you wan to get involved with, e-mail the professor and tell him/her why you're interested in helping with his/her research. You will probably have to e-mail several (...a bunch of...) researchers before you find one that will let you into their lab to help, but if your letter (e-mail) is well written (conveys that you are a mature person) and shows the prof that you're serious about working with them, they will probably consider you if they have space.</p>
