Any Moroccan at Umich ?

Hey everybody !

I will attend Umich this fall 2011 and as a moroccan I would want to know if there is any other Moroccan student studying at it !

Hope somebody answers :P
Bye !

Michigan pulls students from all over the world so I’m sure there are some fellow North Africans on campus.

Actually, there aren’t many Moroccans on campus. As of the Fall 2010, there were 0 undergrads and 1 graduate student from Morocco. Furthermore, there wasn’t a single Algerian or Tunisian enrolled at the university.

Below are the numbers for students hailing from Arab speaking countries currently enrolled at Michigan:

United Arab Emirates
32 undergraduate (mostly from Subcontinental Asia)
8 graduate
40 total

Saudi Arabia:
9 undergraduate
18 graduate
27 total

Kuwait:
11 undergraduate
4 graduate
15 total

Egypt:

9 graduate
13 total

Jordan:
7 undergraduate
6 graduate
13 total

Lebanon:
2 undergraduate
9 graduate
11 total

Oman:

Bahrain:

Iraq:

Qatar

0 graduate
2 total

Morocco:
0 undergraduate
1 graduate
1 total

Palestine:
0 undergraduate
1 graduate
1 total

Syria:
1 undergraduate
0 graduate
1 total

TOTAL ARAB POPULATION:
78 undergraduate
59 graduate

There are also 90 Turks and 55 Iranis

Keep in mind that those are students who actually come from those countries. There may be several Moroccans who have come from other countries (such as France) and there may also be others who were already in the US before enrolling into Michigan.

My first roommate was supposed to be Moroccan. Didn’t work out, but nevertheless.

I guess I’ll have to give a good image of my country now :D

You’re from Morocco?! No way! I’m studying in Morocco right now! Right on – glad you’re coming to UMich!

there are a lot of arabic students at um. i am from syria. hopefully we meet in the fall.

There are a lot of FOAs (fresh off the boat), but far more Arab Americans on campus.

hat trick, let me guess, Akhawayn University ? (AUI)
