I finally decided on Swat. My choices were: Wellesley (the main contender against Swat), Tufts, Bryn Mawr, BU, NYU, and Wesleyan. I ultimately decided on Swat since Wellesley seemed too serious and quiet. The campus was dead basically at like 10:00 pm and although I loved the class I visited, I just felt like the school as a whole wasn't the right "fit" for me. I also, this is totally my own experience, felt like the school was a little "clique"-y.

Nay for me. I was deciding between Swarthmore, Amherst, and Duke and I went with Duke. I really hope I won't regret it, but my mom called me up yesterday and was basically saying how she knows I will make the most of any education but that she would have preferred me to go with Swarthmore or Amherst and now I think I may have too.

I decided on Swat. Sent in my money the monday I got back from RTT. Waved goodbye to Grinnell, Colgate, Williams, and Howard. I only really will miss Grinnell sniffles

sorry, don't think i'll be able to make it next fall. I love swarthmore, visited, loved the classes and the professors and the students, but financial aid just didn't come through. i think it's just harder to give aid to students of divorced households. :sigh:

I wish everyone the best though! still undecided as to where i'm headed next fall, i've got it down to two choices now! one is a financial/social choice and the other is prestige/location/reputation

troublesomejason,
Looks like you've already decided on Harvard, based on the "master decisions" thread. Congratulations on all your acceptances and your decision. Can we assume that Harvard came through with a better aid package for you than did Swat?

heh, thanks for asking. so far i've been offered no need-based aid from Swarthmore, Yale, and Columbia (6k in loans), but 27k in grants/scholarship/workstudy/loans from Stanford. I haven't received anything from Harvard yet, but they promised to send it tomorrow morning, so i'll definitely let you know by the end of tomorrow!

Nay for me. I visited during RtT and thought the school was fabulous, but I never felt the vibe that "I belong here for the next four years." The financial aid from swat was also dissapointing. I'll be headed to Columbia next year. Best of luck to everyone!

I also decided against Swat. I was really excited about the school when I first got in. I was planning on spending my next four years at Swat and I was absolutely jazzed about it. But in the end, when I visited, I decided the vibe was not right for me. I felt like I was consciously trying to like the school instead of just liking the school itself. I am headed to Pomona next year and am supremely happy with my choice but it was a little sad to turn down Swat.
