Any news?

I thought NMS with listing USC as their first choice automatically get a half scholarship if they apply by 12/1? I submitted my app on 12/1 and still did not receive any notification regarding my status.

@ntmuny, not having the stuff on the site does not mean you will not get a schoalrship. There were people yesterday who didn’t have Explore USC who got it today, and there will be people who don’t have it today but will get it in the next couple days. From everything I have read, USC does this stuff in waves.

@erickkwangg, You do automatically get a half tuition scholarship because you are NMF. This aspect is done separately from the merit USC Scholarships. Therefore, you could have applied after Dec 1 and still received the NMF scholarship.

NMSF do not have to apply by December 1st - they are eligible for the scholarship with either deadline.

Your NMSF status has not yet been finalized AND USC has not yet received lists of those who have designated USC as their first choice - those steps will not be complete until arouns May. At that time you will receive official notification. NMSF only hear with the early wave if they have been selected to interview for the Tristee or non-NMSF Presidential - there is no interview component to the NMSF, and there is no admission guarantee for NMSF. Most applicants, including NMSF, will hear in March about their admission.

There are several posters here who have received the NMSF Presidential, and they can reassure you that yes, it is awarded to those NMSF who are accepted and who name USC as their first-choice by the deadline (end of April/early May).

Good luck!!!

Wahoo! Mail just takes longer to get to fly-over country (eastern Nebraska). One proud and very, very grateful dad…

Congratulations!!!

Ooops! I am having Internet issues and did not see that CrazyPants had already fully addressed the NMSF question! Ignore my post #203 :)

Crazy pants absolutely agree with you, I had no indicator tabs yesterday but did today… Don’t lose hope if you don’t have them yet!

Congrats DadinNeb and everyone else getting admissions news.

Is the consensus that everyone who is getting one of the big scholarships has already been notified?

I would not be in on that consensus. I tend to be an optimist. The postmarks reported are the 25th and 26th, and Priority Mail can take 3 days (or more, in some cases  ). I feel we will hear more reports Monday and Tuesday. Some Internationals may not have noted the DHL email and will not get the package for a week or more.

If you look at prior STATS threads, you will see that the early admit postings continue through the end of January and sometimes into early Feb.

Note: If you are able to log into the Explore reservation system and see only April dates, that is an indication you are not up to a Pres or Trustee (but still a Dean’s is likely for early admits).

GOOD LUCK!!!

Thank you alamemom! That gives me hope!

Hi all,
I live in GA and haven’t received my letter yet. However, my USC Connect page is giving me the opportunity to put down my commitment deposit andRSVP to events (including Explore USC). For those of you who have received your letters and know you are in, can you tell me if your pages look like this as well. I have a very good feeling this means I’m accepted but would hate to be let down. Thanks!

^Yes olivia, congrats you were accepted! I got the same boxes on Saturday, and that day I received my package in the mail.

Quick question: For those of you who were awarded Trustee, when did you get your package? I’m thinking they were mailed earlier considering the interview date is in February. Let me know ASAP.

@oliviapoppens - I got my Trustee package yesterday (Sun Jan 29) in the mail. The date on the letter was Jan 25.

[What’s the Status of My First-Year Application? (AKA – should I be worried?) – Viterbi Notes](http://viterbinotes.usc.edu/2012/01/30/first-year-app-status-2012/)

Well, we are seeing a good amount of email and phone traffic – not to mention watching online bulletin boards – since the end of last week with a ton of questions, rumors, speculation, and honestly – a number of worried applicants and parents. We realize this time of year is incredibly stressful – and mostly stressful for one reason:
“I heard some people have been admitted – when will I hear?!”

Yes – a small amount of students have received offers of admission.
Yes – some have also been named Presidential or Trustee Scholarship finalists.
No – we are not done with reading applications and making decisions. (not by a long shot!)
The overwhelming majority of our freshman class for Fall 2012 hasn’t even been admitted yet
Only about 5% of our total offers of admission have gone out as of today.

Here are some details regarding what is going on right now:

Late last week the university sent out letters to those applicants who have been admitted and chosen as finalists for the Presidential and Trustee Scholarships. For those who applied by December 1st we have a small number of students who are moving to the next stage of scholarship consideration. If you did not receive one of those packets – I am sorry to say you were not selected for further consideration for either of those scholarships.

All applications filed by the December 1st deadline are still being considered for other scholarships. All applications are still under review and being read very carefully. Every applicant is being considered for admission. Additionally, anyone who is named a National Merit Finalist, and selects USC as their first choice institution will receive a USC Presidential Scholarship (1/2 tuition).

I know this is a very stressful time. Checking the mailbox every day isn’t the best way to spend an afternoon. Please know that everyone involved in admission at USC is working diligently to review each and every applicant. We are reading everything you submitted, and taking great care to make decisions.

All applicants will hear from us via mail sometime in late-March/early-April. If you want to check online in the meantime – go to [" + loginpagetitle + "](http://www.usc.edu/USConnect). There you can also make sure you have completed everything for applying for Financial Aid. Getting all of your financial aid paperwork done now will definitely help you once you have been admitted. So – get all that stuff in, now!

Finally – if you haven’t done so already – please submit your senior year grades to us at [" + loginpagetitle + "](http://www.usc.edu/USConnect). We may want to see those before making any admission decisions – and you can have them waiting for us ahead of time!

Thanks again for all your patience as we get through this process. If you have any questions, or would like to discuss your concerns – please feel free to contact us at any time!

Do you know if that article is just for Engineering applicants or for all applicants to USC?

Sounds like it is referring to all applicants.

Good game.

Seems like they didn’t mention anything about non trustee/presidential finalists who got their packets.
