Any news?

kokoro can you give me the exact link to the RSVP for explore?

CONGRATULATIONS to those who have been accepted, and DON’T LOSE HOPE to those who have yet to hear. This is such an exciting and heartbreaking time of year.

I am always so impressed by the way those of you still waiting offer congratulations and share the excitement of those getting the good news, and how those who are so excited about getting their packages take time to offer support and hope to those still waiting.

Remember, there will be many, many scholarships yet to come with the acceptances in March, not to mention the fact that USPS may still be bringing good news in the days to come. Hoping that you ALL get good news by the end of March and that many of you will choose USC :)

Should all trustee/presidential finalists have access to the RSVP link? In other words, is it possible to still receive a trustee/presidential letter in the next few days even if the RSVP link is not visible right now?

r1905, no one here knows the answer to your question. In past years, additional students were notified of interviews in the following week. It is unclear if that will continue this year or not. Keep checking on cc to see if anyone gets the official word.

^^ i would think it’s unlikely.

anybody received in MA?

mail doesn’t matter any more (to know if you made it). check USConnect.

Mail has hit Houston! Just got accepted and in the running for Presidential Scholarship as a Film Production major in the CAS…VERY excited never thought it was possible :)

S received Acceptance Pkg in Seattle today. Pres. scholarship invite. Links were up earlier today to RSVP and admitted students blocks. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

To some of the experienced CC members…does USC ever give out multiple smaller scholarships (like Dean’s and departmental)? My son received admissions packet but did not get Presidential or Trustee. Thank you for any info.

Has anyone received anything in Oregon yet?? Please let me know!

Mums,
Congratulations on his admittance. You must have heard SC was expecting over 40,000 applications this year. So he should be proud of his accomplishment.

As we have tried to explain there are many more scholarships offered at SC. There are the Dean’s, Director’s, Town & Gown, Topping Scholarships, Associates, local alumni clubs, etc. Students have been known to receive a university scholarship and then a smaller one from an individual school such as Viterbi or Marshall. Check to see if there is a local alumni club in your region. Contact them about scholarship opportunities.

If you are concerned about affordability do apply for financial aid. Most families need financial aid. Check out alamemom’s posts for many helpful hints. The deadline is close, so do not put this off. Do it now, if you think there is a chance your family may qualify.

Apply for local scholarships. Check the scholarship sites for deadlines and qualifications.

…Best wishes on his admittance. There will be over 30,000 students, I am guessing, who will not receive that welcome letter.

Trojans17: I received my packet in Oregon today.

One of my friends received her package in NJ today. Still hoping to get one myself…

Help me out please! I’m an international student and haven’t received a package yet. But my USConnect site has a RSVP for Admitted Student Programs link and Enrollment Commitment Deposit link… Does this mean that I made it???

^Yes, it does! Congratulations! Your packet is probably just taking a while to get to you. Have you received an email from DHL by any chance?

My D is a NMF. I checked the USConnect and do not have any explore link in it.Are NMF automatically granted admission and at least presidential interview?

Pundad, congrats on your D’s NMF. We don’t know yet what not having the Explore link right now means in the long run. There may be more notifications for Trustee/Pres/Mork/et al interviews but we will just have to wait to see.

To answer your question, “Are NMF automatically granted admission and at least presidential interview?” No. And no.

First, NMF are NOT granted automatic admission. Their applications are reviewed holistically like everyone else and USC typically weighs rigor of course-load and GPA most highly, along with SAT or ACT, essays, ECs and on and on. Since the NMF is based in large part on PSAT scores, there are cases where we’ve seen NMFs not be admitted if the rest of their application (presumably) does not meet other standards of the admissions committee. That said, USC shows a real preference for attracting NMFs.

But second, there is no guaranteed interview for admitted NMF students. But what is even better is all admitted NMFs will automatically receive the 1/2 tuition Presidential scholarship if they list USC first. What’s somewhat confusing is that each year a few applicants (who happen to also be NMFs) get an invitation to interview for the regular (by interview) Presidential (!?) which may not make a whole lot of sense, but I suspect the decision makers in that case (often the major/school) are not looking closely at the NMF information. Or? Just a thought.

jazz/shreddermom, thank you for your reply! Yes i did receive an e-mail from DHL but didn’t even check what it said until you mentioned it. I assumed it was just a confirmation letter that materials I sent via DHL were received by another college. Wow I can’t believe that I got in! Do you know how many people got chosen as finalists and how many really receive scholarships?

My daughter received her DHL package yesterday here in South America (Trustee finalist). We are all super excited and she is already making travel plans!!!

eunbyul93 - Congrats!! What part of the world are you from?
