Any nigerian

Olasco, is your brother Seyi? I know that he is attending Georgetown now. Might be purely coincidental in any case.

yeah he's brother is seyi.... I was surprised too.

hey switch, are you paying the full tuition? or are you on scholarship/financial aid?

WOW..this is amazing...almost everyone here knows each other personally..
btw, Hi to evry Nigerian friends here..(Maddy01,switch,transferko,Olasco,tuoyo00, Wengerism007..)..:)..

Wat???CS-Engineering is ok...but pre-med....I mean will u manage biology n maths simultaneously in HS?

Maddy, I got a full ride (I feel rather fortunate). Amherst has a wonderful endowment (1.3 billion dollars and still growing).

Nice to meet you, issacnewton.

Btw, where is everyone applying to?

Oh..its a pleasure switch...WOW..u got full ride...good thing...but where..Amherst??

To Isaac Newton:
schooling in nigeria is VERY different. In secondary school, I took Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further mAths, Geography, bla bla blah all at the same time for three years.

Thats the system in Nigeria. You choose up to 8-9 subjects and take it for three years of Senior secondary school (aka High school). I took all science related courses. So i can pretty much go into whatever (related to science subjects) in College. Besides I graduated last year. Am taking a gap year.

To switch - that is awesome.... you must have had some wonderful stats.

Oh...I got it then..
I m takin gap yr as well(graduated from school last yr)..this gap yr could hav been awesome if I were in US..(coz here, the opportunities in activities for a gap taker is none)..

Yeah its almost the same here. ONe can hardly find worthwhile opportunities.

But I am taking french classes. Its really improving my fluency. Its like an immersion program for 6 months. I am in the 2nd month, and I already know a reasonable amount of french. But yeah, I am doing all sorts of stuff here. What about you? My advice is to NOT waste this year. You really can learn or do amazing things that u would have never had the time for.

sigh...there is no option here..except to take IIT(Indian Institute of Technology Entrance Exam Preparatory classes)..the prep. is quite tough coz d level of exam is hard.(yes..APs/As hav no chance in front of it)..

Newton, I'm a freshman at Amherst (hence that is where I got the full ride to). It's been fun so far but tons of work.

If you guys don't mind my asking, where did everyone apply this year?

Wow, y'all av gone so far its hard to catch up...lol

Newaiz, here are ma stats:

SAT: 1240/1900
Critical: 690, Writting: 660, Math: 550.
GPA: 3.5/4.0

But, although i did my secondary school in Nigeria- my school was able to provide AP classes so i was able to add the AP classes to my resume...maddy01 shuld knw abt this...lol

lol....yeah I am still amazed that your school offers AP classes. I think Loyola Jesuit Secondary School offers APs too.

To Switch : I have already stated the schools I am applying to on the first page of this forum. Are there any other Nigerians out there??

hi guys I'm back. Howz most of u ED going thru.Well I applied to vassar ED and it looks like I am going to enter. And to those asking whether my bro is Seyi yes he is.I know about u(switch) from him.He said u got full(amherst as evrybody knows).Sorry I have not been able to post much but i have already mentioned the fact that my schoolwork and IMPENDING waec wont allow me.and also tuoyoo what are the schools u applied to.

hanging in there isaacnewton" :)

so yep, I finished school at 16 and took 2 gap years...I really don't believe there're no opportunities to make your gap year worthwhile...your gap year's really what you make of it.

how's it going switch?

and good luck to y'all in your apps and stuff.

Hi guys! The work here is killing me and so that was why I have not been able to do anything worthwhile. Just wanted to say hi to everyone.

hey Jrock, howz it goin?..2 yrs gap!!..WOW..thats amazing..well, as for me, I m tryin hard for activities...hoping against the hope that I will find some really interesting activity(obiviously not to 2 impress the adcoms..rather to satisfy myself..)..

whoa JRock, 2 years gap? wow! What exactly did you do for the 2 years?

Yea Jrock! am curious?

and olasco...I applied to

Trinity. U.
