Anyone NMSF catch this thread in the SAT/ACT forum?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-act-tests-test-preparation/563999-national-merit-finalist-low-gpa.html

I was banking on the fact that since I'm NMSF with a good SAT and GPA that becoming a finalist was a sure thing. Now.. I'm actually a little bit nervous that a handful of CCers have been rejected (one with a 2350; another with a 2360). What's your take on this?

Not having USC's presidential scholarship for NMFs would make going there nearly unthinkable for me.

i saw it, and i gotta admit, i was scared like hell

but then i thought it over, and decided that there must have been logical reasons for those people getting rejected :)

plus, some of my friends got the letter already (for rejection) a while ago, so im starting to think that im safe...that helped me a bit too.

They must tighten up this year. The year my daughter applied I heard nobody was rejected.

Hopefully they aren't arbitrarily rejecting people with decent GPAs in the name of tightening up their standards.

Best of luck to you anotherasian1234. Hopefully we both get finalist/additional scholarship consideration from USC.
