Any NROTC Mids on here?

I am a senior applying to the program for next year. My recruiter is fairly certain I will get the scholarship. I applied at University of San Diego, University of Washington, University of Notre Dame, Purdue University and Texas A&M University. MY GPA is about a 3.75, 1700 SAT, 29 ACT, Varsity Rugby Captain, Senior Hip Hop Captain and had a strong interview. What are my overall chances at each of the schools? What can you tell me about the rest of the process after the applications are all done and im just waiting? Is there anything about each of the schools programs that I should know?

Thanks

Bumped…

There is a website devoted to Academy and ROTC discussions, where I think you will get a lot more feedback: [ROTC - United States of America Service Academy Forums](http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27)

I’m not sure why your recruiter is confident. The scholarships are pretty hard to get, and ACT under 30 or SAT under 1350 or so is not a strong part of any application. Not sure how to comment on your GPA… what is your class rank at your school? Is the 3.75 weighted or unweighted? Have you or are you currently taking AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, and AP Physics? On your NROTC application is your intented major Type I, Type II, or Type III?

Thank you for the website. As for the confidence there is alot more to my overall application then just shown in my post. I was looking at enlistment as my back up and my BGO from the academy told me that it would be a complete waste of my time. I wasn’t meant for enlistment, I was officer material. The 3.75 is unweighted and I am about 124 out of 530. I am taking AP Gov right now, other than my Fire-Fighter Certification Co-op the rest of my classes are core classes. I believe on my application I had listed Type II but the application was done in May so I am not certain.

I’m not even going to comment on the “officer material”… Just don’t say that again. Also, you should really know what major you applied with.

You are not at all guaranteed nor should you be confident that you will get a scholarship. Maybe 5/6 years ago, yes, but not now. ROTC scholarships are unbelievably competitive and highly qualified candidates do not get them every year.

It’s a waiting game right now until you hear back from the board. You also need to think of a back up plan. Are you still interested in ROTC even if you don’t get a scholarship? Have you contacted the commanding officers at the schools you’re looking at and discussed plan b with them?

I’m not here to be a pessimist, just a realist. Military cutbacks are unfortunately affecting these scholarships a lot more than you may realize.
