I'd like to try to get an early read on my D's chances for Pitt nursing. I do mean early -- she is a junior in HS, but so far Pitt is her favorite. Our plan is to visit next spring, then if she still is interested she will apply in September.

Her stats so far:

GPA 4.0 (unweighted)

taking AP Chem and AP Calculus this year, will probably take AP Bio and AP Stat as a senior

will have the required 4 yrs science w/lab, English, 3 yrs Spanish, etc.

She hasn't taken the SAT yet, but from the PSAT she took as a sophomore I expect she will be around 1200 M/V

I know there's a lot that can happen between now and when she applies, but assuming she stays on her current course, does she have a chance at Pitt nursing?

She should be fine as long as she applies early. Might want to concentrate on getting SAT score up. My D is a sophomore at Pitt in nursing and her freshman nursing class average SAT score was around 1310. (They told us this at Pittstart when signing up for classes). Just to let you know AP Chem will not get you out of nursing chem class. They have a combination of 3 different chem classes combined into one just for nursing students and they have to take it. Taking AP chem did help D tremendously in the nursing chem class though. AP bio got D out of 3 credits of electives and AP stats got her out of the statistics class. AP Calc isn't needed but again might get you out of the 3 credits of electives you have to take.
The main thing is to apply early because the nursing school fills up fast. They only take about 100-120 students.
