Starting off.. I'm a jr in high school and will probably end up majoring in the business area... I have much to learn and I live in the socal area, and is looking to stay in this area. I'll probably be applying to most of the UC's, and except for Berkeley, I am wondering if any other UC's are notable or have good business schools?
Overall GPA: 3.8
First SAT: 1930
Took my second SAT last saturday... have yet to take the sat 2's

UCLA Anderson

Anderson is grad school. UCLA only has biz-econ. I don't know if it's good for business. I'd like to know this as well.

I believe UCSD has accounting and UCSB has some sort of econ/management.

Also, I am positive that Irvine start a business school this year.

UCLAs business economics is a really good alternative to Haas. UCSD is also pretty good for economics, 3rd to Berk and UCLA, but still really good.

UCSD has "Management Science" too. Look into that and see if it might interest you.

UCI has business school.

UCSD econ ranks 1 above UCLAs actually.

All of the UCs do not offer business in the way that you would think. it is a lot of theory.

BizEcon, is basically econ with a few accounting courses sprinkled in , that is why a lot of people end up minoring in accounting with that major. if you plan on going to grad school, i would go to a UC for business, if you want to work afterwards in the business field i would be more inclined to suggest a CSU like san diego state.

UCs is really theory based b/c of the econ and b/c it is a UC.

UCSB has a good Business/Econ program that has an accounting emphasis. If you want to go into accounting, UCSB should be one of your top choices. I am currently in that program and I am damn sure I made the right choice.

When I went for second round interviews at the Big 4 and other Acct. firms for summer internships, I saw tons of UCSB students there. A large percentage of the accounting students at UCSB get hired by the big four. When I look at the graduating senior class, nearly 70% of the accounting students that I come across already have jobs before they graduate.

I know that the CSUs have good practical teaching styles. But a large % of the accounting students from the UCSB and UCLA Buss/Econ programs get hired by the accounting firms. You can ask any recruiter, they'll tell you.

most have business, besides davis. how good? i do not know.

UCI and UC Merced have both just started up business schools. UC Riverside's school is not bad. CSU San Bernardino is underrated, as are CSU Fullerton and Cal Poly SLO. San Diego State is okay, but slightly overrated in my opinion. USC has the second-best undergraduate business school in the state after Haas (some think USC's Marshall achool is #1 in the state and they might be correct). I'm also shouldn't leave out Santa Clara, Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount and USD because they are good undergrad business schools.

As far as Econ, I agree that Stanford is #1 in the state, then UCSD, with UCSB coming in next, then UCB and UCLA. (odd, I know, since UCB and UCLA are generally better than UCSD and UCSB for most majors with the exception of biological and neurological sciences at UCSD, and Chemistry at UCSB).

Obviously, for grad schools, it's Stanford, UC Berkeley and UCLA for best business schools (Anderson is possibly even better than Haas at grad level--but then I got my MBA there, so I am biased)--followed very, very closely by USC. Pepperdine is also quite good, and Santa Clara is okay.

Hi, I am a transferring student who got admitted by Pepperdine, UCSB,and UCSD. It will be so nice of u to answer my question. I want to major in accounting/business area. so, 1, is the econ stuff in UCSD too far away from that? It is a good school but how about the major? 2, I really want to know how good is the BizEco (accounting emphasize )in UCSB comparing to the Bus in Pepperdine? Please reply, thank you so much!!!

I can only comment that UCSD’s accounting program is new. 2010 is the first year it offers accounting minor, not major.

none of the UCs are worth going to for business besides haas. ucla’s biz econ is excellent, but that’s not business so it doesn’t count. i would suggest cal poly SLO, USC, or haas. those r the only undergrad b schools i would attend in cali. i’m going to haas next yr

I’m going to Cal Poly SLO Orfalea College of Business.

It’s the 2nd best public undergraduate business school in CA, only second to Berkley according to BW rankings.

AND, they actually have a business school, unlike most of the UCs.

Plus it’s cheaper than UCs & in a BEAUTIFUL area.

it seems you guys forgot to recognize UC Riverside which has a business school… You can major in Business Administration and from their you can choose to go into accounting by taking an emphasis in it. You will be prepared to sit for the cpa exam and will def. be recognized by the big 4 accntning firms.

Other than Haas, I’d only try for UCLA Biz Econ or USC Marshall
The rest may not be worth it

why don’t you want to come up to Haas? get in touch with your norcal side :)
