just interested, anyone here not receiving any financial aid?

me

but then again i am a dumbass and i didnt apply fafsa

It's not too late to file it

I didn't file my FAFSA. Are you sure it's not too late to file it to receive $$ for Fall 2007? Wasn't the deadline March 1?

Im pretty sure you can get pell grants, loans and such, but getting something from the UC may be difficult. My parents make too much for me to qualify that type of thing anyway.

I am not receiving a dime from financial aid.

I applied for fafsa twice..once senior year and again last year...didn't get anything both times.

didn't apply this year but i need to soon for some loans i guess..

It is never too late to file FAFSA. You may not be able to get money immediately, but you will get something.
Go to your school financial aid office and ask them what you could do at this moment,

I'm not,
I was awarded a $5500 student loan though that I will probably be taking. Parents don't want/need to do the plus loan I guess, as long as they are cool with it I am. I was really hoping to get some scholarships based on my grades or something, but nothing from school. Maybe the ones not linked to school will come through.

I applied for financial aid after the deadline and received a lot of money. I encourage everyone to submit the FAFSA.

I didn't apply for FAFSA, and I doubt they would have gave me anything. I'll be going to a state school so it won't be that bad.

I don't qualify.

I applied, but I got $0.00 :(

Absolutely frealin $0. Is it cuz Im white, like a 4th gen college student, I make enough to pay for college, or my parents make more than enough to pay for college?

I think I just filled out FAFSA incorrectly.

What sucks is that my friends parents can afford to pay, but they choose to pay $0 for her schooling. So therefore she is denied FAFSA support. This is the main reason why I hate the FAFSA policy.

It's always going to be dependent on where you're applying as well. Some schools make it known that they have very limited funds for transfers, so if you're expecting money, apply somewhere else.

Cheaper schools also will obviously give you nada if your family does pretty well. We make around 60K in wages but a LOT more in "misc. income;" UT-Austin gave me a $1300/yr. scholarship and told me to go get loans for the rest (about 18k), while WashU gave me a $19k scholarship and about $8k in govt. loans. In the end, the cost is arguably the same, so I can only imagine the difference in cost had I not given FA a try even though my parents are upper middle-class.

It's not a matter of race..it's more of how much you're families income is, assets, and how many people live under your household (siblings etc).

Pretty much if your parents have a decent income and house payments to pay for you're screwed because most of their income will go towards the house leaving you with no financial aid.

I'm not sure how that makes sense. If your family has a mortgage payment that is calculated in your favor - you're more screwed if your family makes good money and has their house paid off.

Also, in my case we posted considerable earnings (overall approx. 120k income) and I am an only child - no siblings going to college. Still received a good package - again I think it is dependent on the college and their formula.

brand_182 you're right, i was speaking in terms of like multiple properties (some not paid off).

Me!

I don't qualify

It's also funny how i know some people have some financial aid that gives them more than enough for school..good for my friend but i think the system sucks.

when here i am with a part time job to pay for my expenses..
