My husband (son’s father) will be 74 when he goes to college in the fall, and is retired. I’ll be 54 and work full-time. Our EFC is on the higher side. Since we are sort of half-retired, we already draw on some of our retirement & non-retirement savings for income. Also paying for a decent level of life and long term care insurance so that our son can continue college if something were to happen to dad. (Certainly not inexpensive when you’re that age and with his health history!)
Just curious if there are any others in a similar situation. And curious how the financial aid/college financing thing worked out. Happy to correspond privately. Feels like we aren’t the typical family sending a kid off to college!
