Thank you historymom & Janelle. I will let you know.

When D got her acceptance (currently is a junior at W) it was in a thin envelope. Following week another thin envelope with more grant aid arrived. Good news needn't come in big ones ;) .

No word here yet...but college mail will be coming to her dad's house because his is the mailing address on the apps. So I'll be the last to know. But as long as D is the first to know, that's OK by me.

No envelope here....the application was sent in on 9/27!

Nomore and lunitari,any word?

D sent app in at the end of Oct, and received her acceptance today, with good merit aid. Good luck to those still waiting.

orygunmum congrats to your D and to you. How likely is she to attend, or do you know? Mine is playing it close to the vest at this point so we don't really know where she stands, don't think she does either, but she does love Willamette.

I don't think she will know until all the acceptances are in this Spring. Willamette's merit aid was pretty generous, and I think thier Science program sounds great, but she will compare packages, and then decide. She isn't applying to any colleges she wouldn't want to attend, so Willamette is always a possibility. She may know about 3 colleges by the end of January, then it is the waiting game for the rest.

you and your D sound lik my DH and I and ours. She does have things she likes about every school on her list which makes us happy. It will all come down to the bucks here too.

My D just got her acceptance from Willamette in the mail--with a very handsome merit aid offer. I'm so proud of her!

Those of you with kids considering Willamette might have heard of this but if not thought I would toss it in ;) Scholar Achievement Loan Program - Office of Admission - College of Liberal Arts - Willamette University The Scholar Achievement Loan Willamette University Brings Innovative Thinking to College Financing
D just got back from study abroad (Ecuador) and her roommate from Sweden. She has been in contact with lots of friends who went all over the place and they all can't wait to get back together and share adventures. Ahh college life.

congrats to lunitarigirl! csleslie D received that information re the loan and it makes the whole thing just that more attractive to me. She is doing an overnight in Feb I think and I hope that it will convince her that WU is a top contender. Right now she has several favorites since she didn't apply anywhere she couldn't see herself attending but that loan plus her merit offer make WU very exciting!

DS applied the end of November, and when I talked to the school a couple weeks later, the file was complete. Keeping our fingers crossed for an acceptance with one of those magical merit announcements attached.

We haven't been to the NW schools yet, but S is showing more interest in the west coast schools recently. His interest in the process is a little late in blooming!

ugh, I had my application in around early november of this year (or I thought I did). I guess they sent a letter to my house, my I'm at boarding school, so my college mail is always a mess because I don't know what I've already seen and what i haven't (my parents just put it in a pile in my room). I had to e-mail my regional counselor at willamette when i realized that it had been well passed the 2-5 weeks they'd said it would take.
Then, to add on to it, the counselor couldn't tell me what was missing, I'll have to wait for them to resend the letter (though they will send the letter to both my home and my boarding school this time :D).
oh well... I just need to be patient a little longer.
I was wondering, though, what type of stats you guys might have that got merit aid. I think I should be good to get in, but I'll need some really good money to be able to afford it.

Good Luck! My Daughter's stats are:

SAT: CR 670 M 580
GPA 3.8 uw 4.04 w in the most rigorous curriculum at our small rural public. upward trend

My D's stats:
3.9 uw GPA
SAT: CR 760, M 680
ACT: 34
National Merit Commended.
Most rigorous curriculum available to her, many AP classes.
Average extracurriculars...a participator in a few things, but not the leadership type. Literary arts mag, Japanese Bowl, band, Humane Society volunteering.

I just got in to Willamette yesterday and I recieved a merit scholarship. I have about a 3.4 GPA and a 30 on the ACT. I've only taken 3 AP classes but I got to a pretty rigorous high school (even though it's public). As far as extra-curricular activities, I was involved in a very time consuming sport my first two years of high school, so I wasn't involved in much else then. However, I ended up being involved in a community service group that raises money for a children's hospital and I'm working on my girl-scout gold award. Also, this year (my senior year) I have a job. From looking at other peoples' grades and test scores, I'm kinda surprised that I got a merit schoarship.

Willamette gave me a very generous Merit package, with not extra application. I guess they are very generous and are also hoping to encourage good students to come in rough economic times.

Very encouraging to see they are keeping their merit commitment up. My S is interested in Willamette for fall of 2010 and we are planning a visit soon.

This is good news about the merit aid packages holding up so far. I have been thinking about calling the FA office to ask about their future plans, as S will be applying next year.
