First off... congrats all of you EA people who have heard!

But RD Kids....

Did anyone else have problems with the online application? I did my application online December 10th and i uploaded my resume and essay and short answer and whatever and sent it in. So i checked that interactive services website where you can view your application credentials on Jan 5th (the DUE DATE) to make sure everything was fine and it said they were missing my essay/short ans/resume. SO i emailed info tech to see if it was a tech problem and admissions to make sure they had my stuff and they told me not to worry.

But January 10th i got a letter in the mail saying they didnt have my essay/short ans/resume. WHATTT. So i called Emerson and they said for some reason there were problems uploading them? So i had to send them in by mail and they didnt show up as recieved untill january 26.....

I wrote a letter explaining my situation but i'm so afraid I will be penalized for having my stuff in late!!!!! even though it wasnt my fault!

So i guess what I want to know is...is it just me? or did other people have this same problem? Emerson's my first choice so this is really killing me.

Let me know!!!

I submitted my whole app online on Jan. 5th, and it says that my applicant essay is still missing. I wonder if that means that my whole application is missing or if just my actual long essay...cuz I definitely uploaded that. I e-mailed them about it twice but haven't gotten a response back yet. Maybe I'll call tomorrow.

yeah the same thing happened to me! Did they send you a letter telling you they were still missing it?

I think they have your application and are just missing the long essay. When I called they said for "some reason" my essay didnt upload but they had my application? This is so annoying.

Let me know how you make out with this.

I hope we wont be penalized.

No, they didn't send me a letter, but they e-mailed me back and they said..

"If you have sent your application online, I'm positive we have your
credentials here in the office. What happens is that your essay and
other written materials are processed separately, which means they may
take a while longer to be put into the system.

You can always fax us a copy of them if that will make you feel more
relaxed.

_Have a good day"

But it's been almost a month since I've sent the essay..so I guess if it doesn't show up on Interactive Services by tomorrow, I'll fax it over, just in case.

i sent everything but they said i'm missing...everything...wth is going on at Emerson?

they're probably just really busy. it took a while for my stuff to process EA, not a month, but then again i'm sure they have more applications coming in now.

the day after i faxed everything, the website said all my credentials were received. woohooo!

Yeh, I had a lot of problems with Emerson but not with the actual "applying." They keep asking for all these crazy forms by March 1st and its nearly impossible for my family to get all these tax forms in because my dad owns a buisness so the buisness has to do the taxes first, then they have to do my family's. They're also making me send my taxes even though I only made $900 last summer. They told my family if we didn't get it in on time it would decrease my chances of getting in, but I think my stats are high enough (1360 SAT, 3.9 GPA, top 5%, pres of span. honor society, vp of student council) that it shouldn't be too difficult for me to get in. I just wish the financial aid process was less stressful.

I don't think it decreases your chances of getting in... it decreases your chances for financial aid. It was explained to me (yesterday by someone in the financial aid office) that those who get their CSS Profile in by today will have first priority for financial aid. Those who submit it after today will be given financial aid consideration based on what's still left.

yeh. The thing is I've had the CSS and Fafsa done for over a month and they keep asking me for more and more information. I just hope they have everything by now.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I completed my CSS profile and Fafsa back in Jan. in order to make the EA deadline for aid, and they kept telling me they didn't receive it signed, (although verified by two different Fafsa people), and we would only be eligible for "whatever's left." After many phone calls, emails and FedEx deliveries, I hope the matter is resolved, but I don't know yet. The Emerson Financial Aid dept. has an "F" in my grade book!

the emerson financial aid is horrible. i didn't apply, but a lot of ea kids i have been talking to have either recieved a lot or none at all. it's really random, but from what i've heard you shouldn't expect anything.

yeah financial aid is awful. the only reason i can afford to go is because i got into the honors program w/ a half-tuition scholarship. i'm still 20 thousand in the hole (including room + board) after the scholarship and the fed subsidized loan.

amory...i also applied to the honors program..would you mind posting your stats?

SAT: 2010 (720 reading, 740 math, 650 writing)
ACT: 30
GPA: 3.7-ish unweighted
Ranked 14th out of 260ish in a private catholic school
All honors classes w/ AP statistics, psych, and us history
Loootts of E-Cs
Leadership positions in national honor society, MOVE, SADD, and house of compassion (AIDS house)
No legacy

good luck! i hope you join me!!

I kind of regret not applying to the honors program, but originally I thought it was only kids with like 1400+ in it. I got a 1360 so I wish I tried. Does anyone know if I get in if I can ask them to relook it and send in an honors application, or if they reconsider people for honors students in sophmore year?

Amoryblaineee,

When did you receive your acceptance letter for the honors program?

I got mine mid-February. Originally I was told we weren't supposed to find out until April 1st, but on the back of the pamphlet they sent me it says that they notify only a couple of EA kids mid-winter.

call.heralaska, you have to keep a certain GPA to maintain enrollment in the Honors Program, so naturally a couple of spots open up every year. I'm not sure what the deal is with getting these open spots, but I know you can definitely be looked at again. Good luck!!
