I do not know if you can switch back to Fall Admission if you do not get into LEAP, but I bet if you register right away on the 27th you will get in. Look through the classes so you know what you are interested in beforehand. One thing you will learn about going to a school with 30,000+ other kids, sign up as soon as you can for something if you want to do it!

Frank Bob...I DIDN'T get the message, that's why I was worried.
BTW, does anyone know if Penn State ever defers people?
Well whatev, guess I'll just wait for the mail to come before I jump to conclusions...

Just checked the mail and still no letter after status changing on the 11th!! I'm beginning to wonder if they have our correct address! So they said it will take 2 weeks...but it sounds like everyone here heard within 4 days from their change of status "decision have been made" ....augh!!!

I changed my Fall admission to Summer on 1/5/07. PSU admissions said that I would receive confirmation in the mail in two weeks. Well today, 1/19/07, markes the 14th day after when my admissions was changed. Should I email them Monday morning if I don't get it by tomorrow?

Daughter rejected today from University Park. A B+ student at a prestigious private school in the Philadelphia suburbs, AP and Honors courses for three years. ACT 26...leadership activities, works part time, yada yada. AND she's a legacy ! I'm ****ed.....................................

lil_killer and newdawn, my son still hadn't heard roughly three weeks after his status changed! He finally called the admissions office, and was told the letter had never been sent (some kind of mix-up).

They sent it out right after the phone call and he got the letter about four days later.

That's unbelievable, PhillyDad...that really stinks big time!! Was she at least accepted to one of their other campuses? We were told during our campus tour to not be surprised if we don't get UP right away since they send most of their students to the smaller schools for general ed classes and then they spend their last 2 years at UP for their major classes.

Was University Park her first choice? Has she heard from other colleges? It's definitely PSU's lost...she sounds like a bright student and will be fine whereever she goes!

kdmom - thanks for that info. If we don't get anything tomorrow, we will be calling the admissions office on Monday. That's just scary that they could have a "mix-up" like that. I'm beginning to lose faith in this school. Is this a reflection on how students are treated..."take a number" " you get what you get"... We definitely are not asking for any hand holding but it sure sounds like one can get really lost in the "system".

PhillyDad, sorry to hear that. I would be upset too. Did she have a second choice campus listed? My S had Altoona as second choice, and got accepted to Altoona, and I was wondering if he would have been better off putting NO second choice? He has no interest in Altoona.

Oh, in the letter she received they told her they couldn't accept her for Fall or Summer, but she should consider any of the satellite campuses for two years. She got in to Pitt a few weeks after she applied and has been accepted at four other major state schools...two in the Big 10 AND two offered her merit money.....This is a joke especially since I read on this Board about the State College student who was accepted with a 2.66 gpa and 990 on SATs. Admittedly, he lives in SC but clearly my daughter is better academically, so this is about not enough Dorm rooms not who is a better student. Frankly, I wouldn't want her living in a student lounge anyway...not what I call an ideal way to experience college and dorm life...que sera, sera.

That is so messed up PhillyDad.
I have similar stats to your daughter...the way you described her pretty much the same applies for me too. (Other than legacy, but I am a minority - though Asian so meh it probably counts against me) It says they made the decision on the website but I don't know why I get this feeling I got rejected.
Have you considered appealing (if she's still interested that is)? If I were you, I would definitely atleast call PSU and ask why she was rejected. I was rejected at my top choice, and after calling and finding out why I felt a lot better about it.
What major did she apply for? I applied for Communications, I couldn't imagine it being that tough to get into...

But your daughter clearly should have gotten in. I honestly thought those stats would be enough to get in, they pretty much are the average stats for a PSU student right? Guess not :S Anywho, I'm sure your daughter will do great wherever she goes. And as for myself, I guess there's no point for a midwestern girl like me to go all the way to Pennsylvania, haha...Indiana University is probably the place for me.
